cheapest shampoo/conditioner I could find
some kind of facewash
some kind of body wash
razor
makeup remover

I am not going to attempt to list all the makeup I own, though.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Saturday, 23 September 2006 17:04 (nineteen years ago)

ooh i love playing with makeup. almost went to school so i could get paid to do it, even!

shower:
some brand of color care shampoo (rly like redken colorextend)
usually two conditioners - one volumizing, one moisturizing
body wash
face wash
razor
shaving cream

cabinet:
toner
makeup remover
q-tips!!!!!!!!
cotton balls/pads
night cream
day cream
eye cream
foot cream
aftershave lotion
makeup brush cleaner
perfume
hair product:
bedhead after party
bedhead ego boost
redken quickdry 18 instant finishing spray
kenra platinum silkening mist
beyond the zone (bedhead ripoff brand) super sexy
beyond the zone flipped out
other stuff that doesn't really count as product, it's just daily essential shit (like toothpaste, salene, etc)

sometimes my entire life be like DAMNNN! (tehresa), Saturday, 23 September 2006 17:15 (nineteen years ago)

oh yeah aveda control paste and deoderant and a shitload of perfume and lotion. they live in my room though.

all these hair product lists are reminding me why I cut all my hair off.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Saturday, 23 September 2006 17:21 (nineteen years ago)

i have nail polish, more perfume, makeup, lotion in my room.
also in room: new fancy cuticle oil brush!

i don't use all the hair products every day just one or two.

sometimes my entire life be like DAMNNN! (tehresa), Saturday, 23 September 2006 17:22 (nineteen years ago)

bedhead = sort of a scam?

i mean, why would i pay $36 for a freaking gallon of some conditioner i'm not even sure i want! i get bagloads of free kiehl's stuff at the kiehl's store so i'm pretty sure i know what i'm getting ...

the art ensemble of chicago house (vahid), Saturday, 23 September 2006 17:22 (nineteen years ago)

i am not familiar with kihel's products.
educate me.

also, the bedhead stuff was only purchased after stylist used it on me and i really liked it and we talked about it and its uses and it came in a package deal w/ other shit that made the price better.

all product's a scam, really... but i love it so i don't care.

sometimes my entire life be like DAMNNN! (tehresa), Saturday, 23 September 2006 17:28 (nineteen years ago)

lol @ noize babez overtaking the thread.

all product sold in salons is a total ripoff, although they all smell about 100x better than cheapo stuff.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Saturday, 23 September 2006 17:29 (nineteen years ago)

i haven't used deodorant/anti-perspirant since 10th grade, and gave up washing my hair after i shaved my head. other than that, i wash with DR BRONNERS and shave with TOM'S (although, mostly I just 'shave' with clippers now).

KEEPING IT REALLY REAL

gbx (skowly), Saturday, 23 September 2006 17:45 (nineteen years ago)

wow no deoderant might be a lot more real than I can handle.

omg vahid yesterday i was walking down the street and found myself in front of a kiehl's and so i bought some shampoo that smells sooo good and you're right! i got like 10 samples of fun stuff!!

boo berry (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 14:05 (nineteen years ago)

kiehl's extra-moisturizing shampoo with coconut is great, although it's not concentrated enough for the price. right now, i'm using their hair serum with silk groom and the abyssine facial moisturizer.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 14:13 (nineteen years ago)

Haha, THZ, I was gonna say, we have to go to Kiehl's now-ish, but you have discovered for yourself!

lauren, i got a cocount-y one, but i don't think it's the same. labled as amino acid, not extra moisturizing.

my bad. i meant conditioner upthread. you got the shampoo that goes with the conditioner i used to use. they both smell so good.

gbx (skowly), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 14:51 (nineteen years ago)

irish spring soap
strawberry suave shampoo
infusium 23 for colordamaged hair
JOVAN MUSK deodorant (srsly it's the bomb)
one of those vibrating razors.

add cetaphil facewash and moisturizer and you and my brother are product twins, whoa
xpost to sleep

rrrobyn, the situation (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 14:53 (nineteen years ago)

irish spring
right guard or old spice (whatever's on sale when i go to buy deodorant)
currently using some shampoo i bought at the moon lite mini mart last sunday that may or may not be intended for pet use.
some sort of expensive conditioner that my last girlfriend left at my place. it smells great and keeps my locks from doing the natty-dread.
recently made the switch back to colgate shaving cream because the shaving soap was drying my face out something fierce.

xpost- and yeah, cetaphil almost forgot that.
nivea after shave balm. this shit works wonders.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 14:55 (nineteen years ago)

I used to use the amino acid or coconut kiehls or the soy shampoo by Fresh. now i use johnson's baby shampoo. the only expensive products i use now are kiehls ultra moisturizer and some kind of bumble and bumble product. i haven't used deoderant since 9th grade gym class. I have returned to cutting my own hair too. is that cutty's bathroom? that pink and black bathroom is everywhere.

eatadick.com (Carey), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 15:33 (nineteen years ago)

i read some insane person's website about how shaving cream is a big fraud and that it makes you more likely to cut yourself and the chemicals are bad for your face. for some reason i found it compelling so i tried it: first week or so was difficult, but now my skin has adapted and i get amazingly close shaves with just water.

i don't use shaving cream and it works pretty okay, though the water being REALLY HOT seems to help somehow.

rrrobyn, the situation (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 15:42 (nineteen years ago)

i'm with you on the decent soap + exfoliation (i use a poof thingy) for shaving, though obv i shave legs not face, which i know is quite different. but them legs are fiiine. shaving cream has a lot of irritating crap in it.

rrrobyn, the situation (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 15:45 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, shaving cream does have a lot of irritating crap in it but i'll take some minor irritation over a hacked up face anyday. i used to use shaving soap which did not irritate my face but dried it out so badly that i had to go back. i haven't shaved in two days and i'm starting to look homeless.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 15:49 (nineteen years ago)

me, ally, & quincie were about to go to a kiehl's saturday but.. what happened? didn't get finished with beer/pizza in time before it closed, I think.

maybe I should go there soon for the loads of free samples! I pretty much use a couple of boot's botanics things (pressed powder, eye cream, peachy-coppery eyeshadow), neutrogena, cetaphil face wash (super. and cheap).. some kind of peppermint/sage shampoo & conditioner got on massive sale at bath & body. and ysl touche eclat but not on a daily basis.

also I got this welleda citrus deodorant spray (mostly as a kind of aromatherapy thing), it's great, smells like a gin and tonic

HI DARE METRO

George Forman's RIOT GRRRRRiL (ddb1), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 15:59 (nineteen years ago)

I don't really understand shaving cream, I guess. I use a scrubby puff thing to exfoliate legs every time, lather it up with my chosen bar soap (herbal, moisturizing, whatever you like), then shave. I think the exfoliation makes by far the greatest difference in results.

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 16:08 (nineteen years ago)

Kevin: there are a TON of good shaving creams/soaps available. Try another one, something with all natural ingreds, or herbal tonic of your choice, or or or.

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 16:10 (nineteen years ago)

i can get away with not using shaving cream if i'm shaving in the shower but if i'm at the sink (which is usually) i need something to keep the whiskers soft. also, water and a razor act as an adhesive to my face whereas the shaving cream will let the razor glide across the skin.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 16:14 (nineteen years ago)

i think that conditioner works well as shaving cream... more lotion-y, but i don't do it that often, usually just when i'm out of shaving cream.

also, cetaphil face wash is teh awesome

sometimes my entire life be like DAMNNN! (tehresa), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 16:22 (nineteen years ago)

i've tried the whole "no shaving cream" route and it usually ends up w/ a mega irritated face and lots of ingrown hairs.

i also run far far far away from any shaving product that's a GEL and not a FOAM. the worst offender seems to be that mango-vanilla or lime-coconut stuff you can get at whole foods. that crap is terrible!! and while the smell is great it hardly stays on you after you shave.

i think the good thing about shaving in a hot hot shower is that it opens your pores and softens your skin and cell membranes and makes the hairs softer, too.
