Holly (an appletross), Thursday, 23 September 2004 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

this thread had so much potential.

ddb (ddb), Thursday, 23 September 2004 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

how old/new is the turntable?

i jack everything into my laptop through the mic in. you will need a stereo(?) to 1/8 jack adaptor. they are only a few bucks. radio shack.

i use the mic in levels to get the right volume levels, then i eq

Holly (an appletross), Thursday, 23 September 2004 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you making music, listening to it, or both?

warhorse jackson (thee owlbear hunter), Thursday, 23 September 2004 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

hello warhorse! i saw you on the eb message board. hm.
both. yes, i say both. immediately i'm editing a movie mostly and need a song from vinyl

Holly (an appletross), Thursday, 23 September 2004 18:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Holly!

That's cool, good luck with the movie!

I don't know what you have equipment wise, but the soundcard that came with your computer's going to be a tad weak, I wager.

If you already knew this, then my bad, my bad...

i like running my turntable to my stereo amp and then out to the computer... that way i can bump up the volume better cause the turntable has no amplification.

msp (msp), Thursday, 23 September 2004 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

yes that was my plan m. it is through the amp anyway... the soundcard is a legitimate concern though.

Holly (an appletross), Thursday, 23 September 2004 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

ddb- i am feeling a lot of negativity coming ffrom your direction.

Holly (an appletross), Thursday, 23 September 2004 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

from the amp to the soundcard should be no sweat... like kephm said, you need an rca stereo thingy to a 1/8 inch stereo thingy.... a Y shaped thing with the red and white plugs on one end and the normal walkman headphones looking plug on the other.

line in is preferred, but mic in is okay too. depends on your computer/soundcard. with some soundcards on less friendly computers, the mic in should generally only be used with mics because of the grounding, amplification issues, etc. it shouldn't hurt things... if you've got a computer with only one input, then use that cause most likely it's both a line in/mic.

dear holly--

we aren't nice people

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 23 September 2004 18:48 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i was sort of assuming the turntable didnt have its own amp/volume control. but i once had a fisher price table that did.

kephm (kephm), Thursday, 23 September 2004 18:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't do turntable to PC. i do turntable to CD writer (straight .wav conversion and auto-EQ) and then ripped to PC.

NO1Z3 HURTS

ddb (ddb), Thursday, 23 September 2004 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

ive also done mic help up to stereo speakers and then mic in to laptop.

kephm (kephm), Thursday, 23 September 2004 18:56 (twenty-one years ago)

how do you get it straight to the cd writer?

Holly (an appletross), Thursday, 23 September 2004 19:01 (twenty-one years ago)

it's part of a philips stereo component system (from EUROPE).

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 23 September 2004 19:02 (twenty-one years ago)
