For consumers over 21 considering a career in fall-down-drunkenness or alcoholism, be advised that this drink is not the downer you crave. The Sparks energy-alcohol drink is the Snapple of juices, the Home Star Runner of Flash animation, and the Tommy Hilfiger or corporate glitz all rolled into one.
When you're out having fun, what would make your frolic complete? How about a smooth and refreshing lightly liquored drink? How about a carbonated energy drink? Or, maybe a Mini Cooper is more your speed? Sparks has you covered so long as you agree not to combine the car and the drink.
I was first introduced to Sparks maybe 18 months ago by an ESPN-2 sort of friend. When he's not dabbling in experimental footwear or otherwise doing the Dew he's in search of a new drink. He showed me Sparks and the game was on.
For six months the smooth blend of alcohol, caffeine, and guarana-siberian ginseng blend only got easier to find. From there out the success of the word-of-mouth campaign overtook supply and merchants started pissing me off with increasing regularity.
One 7-11 near my home reported running out within 36 hours of delivery. The next told me they never could keep a supply sufficient to make it to Monday. The third retailer bragged that he was the only guy for miles who ever stocked enough. What was the meaning of this madness?
I started a petition, wrote a letter to my congressman, and completed a nasty letter of complaint. Sadly, nothing came of any of it since they're all still sitting on top of my TV. Nonetheless I thought about it really loudly and they heard me. Supplies are better than ever.
If you want fun and don't drink caffeine at least check out their website, enter to win the free Mini Cooper. If you're not opposed to a great citrus taste with a couple built-in kicks, pick one up next time you're out. And to those of you who know me as an incredibly cheap sell out, be advised: I've hit a new low... I didn't get anything but a press packet for writing this and there was nary a six-pack inside.
