I'm actually thinking of making a highly advanced delay/loop solution. Basically, you could string together all these different delays with like multiple read/write heads moving at different speeds (directions too) or at different relative (virtual) tape positions to each other and pump them through lots of effects and shit.

time quantized?? I was thinking of making a tap tempo feature so you could control how long a delay cycle was. you could have some delays running at like 2/3 tap tempo also or like 7/5 tempo. Anyway, you could make it more accurate by doing something where the length of the delay cycle would be set by the average of say, uh the last 5 taps and then the previous cycle length. You could also even allow for missed taps by giving configurable margin to not accept taps outside of say a 10% window and would just maintain the same length

Also, allowing stuff to be played at different speeds without pitchshifting = key.
