1. People talking about meat looking grey, isn't it always grey when it's cooked? actually isn't it always grey? no, people call it "red meat" so it must usually be red.

and yet when they see someone wearing glasses they somehow don't feel like taking them off, pointing to a faraway object and asking them to identify it.

3. Road trip with someone who was colorblind. They point at a bus and go, "Wow, now there's a YELLOW schoolbus, especially if I can see it!"

Except it was one of those baby blue prison buses. We felt so bad for him, he was so close!

It's funny, yellow is the only colour I can see properly and so it's like a blaring foghorn, can't miss it and can't stand it.

it also overwhelms anything else, sometimes I am told what is apparently yellow is actually sth called "lime green" though limes are a much darker shade.

I've had people think I'm faking it my whole life. Like, I've picked up something in a slightly "off" shade and had people assume that I'm playing some kind of twisted, weird long game. I don't understand why it would make more sense to believe I'm faking it than I just struggle to differentiate similar colours and textures.

people are just mystified by the idea that you can look at the same thing and see it differently

You have to take a colour vision test to be able to legally drive in Bulgaria and Cbina, this was a good excuse not to learn to drive while I was in China.

"Hey, man. What if the color I'm seeing that I call 'blue' is different from the color 'blue' that you're seeing, man?"

"Yes. 'What If?'"

just fundamentally not caring about colours, what colours things are, not having a "favourite colour" or even a preference, "what colour is your front door?" "don't know, I've never checked", people evangelising about the colours of plants or clothes or a rainbow, trying to explain that i don't even mind not seeing colours

and purple, you guys, purple doesn't really exist, does it? obviously it's just blue, and why do there need to be so many names for colours, just pick seven, that's all there are

Probably isn't the right thread for this but could be I dunno, because it's not exactly colour blindness but seeing different colours to other people. I've tried googling this but couldn't find anything about it so doesn't seem to be a thing and maybe I'm just weird, but sometimes I see things which to most people are grey as green. A greyish green sure, but definitely green. I had a couple of jumpers which people insisted were grey that were definitely green - and they said there was definitely no green in there, so it's not just like a green/grey mix where they think it's more grey, they said it's not green at all. Is that a thing?

We had a this model and color of car for about ten years, and the vehement disagreement between the two generations of our family about its color was intense.
