i had a terrifying dream as a child about a character with a giant mailbox for a head who only moved in slow motion and was setup in the mall ala santa

i remember playing on the macdonalds playground like, a LOT when I was a kid... every day after school my mom would take me and my sister there. Anyway the mayor mccheese was like this cool thing where you climbed up through the inside of his torso and there was a little room with bars in his head. I remember sort of wanting to MOVE INTO his head permanently - it was such a CHILL GETAWAY.

I think I'm too old for McDonaldland Playgrounds, but the McDonaldland-powered commercials definitely hit me square in the noggin. To see Hamburglar now with all the knowledge that he wasn't just stealing hamburgers but kids' youthful athletic figures just to me puts a new dimension on his criminality.

libcrypt, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 05:17 (eighteen years ago)

he stole our hearts
