Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

1. Brian Pillman's quasi-shoot, possibly drunk promo on his first night in ECW, where he turned up, called the crowd "marks", and threatened to "whip his johhnson out and piss in the middle of the ring".

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

2. Lou E Dangerously laying out Billy Corgan with Dangerous Alliance-tributing cellular phone shot.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

3. Bret Hart's victory roll victory over Bam Bam Bigelow, 1993 King of the Ring

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

4. A midget running into Sunny's crotch by accident, Royal Rumble 97 (possibly 98?).

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

During Y2J's first appearance in the wwf, after interrupting The Rock's promo and repeating his own name many times, The Rock pretends to not know Jericho's name and asks the arrogant newcomer to introduce himself.

Jericho: b-b-b-but I just told you-
The Rock: IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS!

herbert hebert (herbert hebert), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

5. Diesel pulling off Mad Dog Vachon's fake leg to beat Shawn Michael with

6. I think it was Jerry Lawler who tried to destroy Tommy Dreamers testicles during one of his initial run-ins with a singapore cane. The noise that came out of Dreamer after the hit was HEINOUS.

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 17:25 (twenty-one years ago)

oh shit oh shit

7. Im really awful with ppv names and such, but this was the PPV where Harlem Heat wrestled Luger and Sting individually for a title shot against Hogan - Booker T is cutting a promo for his match and utters the infamous: HOGAN HOGAN, IM COMIN' FOR YOU NIGGA!(* - afterwhich Sheri Martel starts cracking up in the background. So awesome.

8. SHOCKMASTER

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Herbert SOOOOO OTM -- the entire Jericho debut segment had me marking out like nuts. The night it happened, RAW was pre-empted on the Canadian sports network that usually carries it, so I went to a nearby bar that had a satellite dish and watched it with a bar full of people STOKED for Jericho's debut.

9. Nobody will remember this, but I went nuts the day after Summerslam 2001 when Angle gave the Alliance a milk bath.

10. HHH's return in MSG, Jan 2002. Too bad it was all downhill from there.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

11. When Austin cut a promo that solely consisted of him yelling "What" at the audience 24 times, before saying "You're all a bunch of jackasses".

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

12. I was at a Smackdown taping in Toronto and the Rock was interviewed by Lillian Garcia. The Rock kept hitting on her and it led to the line "face it Lillian, you get wet. ... ... with PERSPIRATION standing so close to the Rock". The entire arena was in hysterics. And I'm no Rock fanboy -- that was the funniest interview he'd given in months.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 18:17 (twenty-one years ago)

13. the foley cage dive - this is trite and unsurprising, but seeing it on ppv was fucking mind blowing

14. the benoit/angle cage match on raw where we saw angle doing a moonsault off the top of the cage as well as benoit doing the headbut from the cage. didnt do much for either man's career longevity, but GAT-DAMN.

15. sabu jumping off the top of the old raw set the week before barely legal

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

A midget running into Sunny's crotch by accident, Royal Rumble 97 (possibly 98?).

'By accident'

16. Shawn Michaels beating Vader at Summerslam 96 with a moonsault, after losing by DQ twice. With hindsight it's shit though.

17. WCW Nitro, when the NWO routinely fucked up the main event for like, years, and they staged a run-in of an army of fake Stings which they then knocked out with one punch one after the other. Buff Bagwell hits one of them and then turns round to pose, unaware that the Sting is still on his feet looking at him. He then reverse DDTs him and takes off the Sting mask to reveal Proper Actual For Serious Sting Facepaint and chases the NWO off.

18. When Big Show debuted during the McMahon-Austin cage match at St Valentine's Day Massacre by coming out from under the ring, only to throw Austin at the cage so hard it came open, causing him to land outside and win.

19. Benoit winning at WMXX

Michael Philip Philip Philip Annoyman (Ferg), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 19:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I think he lost by DQ, then lost by countout, and each time James Cornette ordered the match to be restarted so Vader could win the title. Actually, this may have been the finish he used against Yokozuna, I'm not sure.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

It was countout then DQ. With hardly anything happening between. I watched it again recently and it was a bit disappointing.

I also gather that Vader was meant to have won the belt originally but Michaels had some kind of hissy fit.

Michael Philip Philip Philip Annoyman (Ferg), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 20:02 (twenty-one years ago)

That moment at the last Wrestlemania, or some such big PPV, with the handicap tag match with Foley and the Rock against Evolution (minus Triple H), where when the opposition are trying to make a tag Flair grabs a leg and says to the Rock, loudly enough for the mics to pick it up, "I don't think so, motherfucker".

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

thus ruining vader's character forever and prompting one of the great flameouts in wrestling history

20. vader referring to himself as a 'fat piece of crap' on raw

21. this one is personal, but great: House Show in Anaheim a week or so before Mind Games - got to see the test run of the Michaels v. Mankind match that Foley felt was his best ever. also a great match between Steve Austin and Sid punctuated with some of the best hecking I've ever heard:

HOOK THE LEG DUMMY!
OH HITMAN, YOU PUNKASS.

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

haha I have a tape of Jericho in Japan and he says COME ON MOTHERFUCKER every 5 seconds.

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 21:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Best piece of wrestling swearing- Steve Corino refering to Tajiri, after Tajiri had turned face on The Network, as "a slinty-eyed cunt".

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)

22-49. Gobbledygooker

why do old people and old users of ILX such bastardos (deangulberry), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Michael Philip Philip Philip Annoyman (Ferg), Thursday, 16 September 2004 01:02 (twenty-one years ago)

haha I have a tape of Jericho in Japan and he says COME ON MOTHERFUCKER every 5 seconds.
That is true for all Jericho matches in Japan during the mid-90's.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 16 September 2004 03:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Shane O Mac jumping 40 feet on to the undertaker.

the first time I saw the genius that is Jon seena's "you cant see me" move.

lukey (Lukey G), Thursday, 16 September 2004 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

You mean onto the Big Show?

Which reminds me of one of the biggest mark-out PPV's ever, Summerslam 2000.

52. Shane falling 59392 feet from the side of the TitanTron
53. TLC, I mean TLMFC. Particularly the fall from the 15 foot ladder through four tables
54. Angle's speech before the main event, running down Triple H for not knowing how to please his wife.
55. Benoit v Jericho (their best ever match with each other, IMO)

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 16 September 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

that angle/hhh/stephanie love triangle is the greatest angle that never happened. makes 'who raised the suitcase?' look like a pile of puke.

another fine mark out moment:

56. angle attempting to kill shane mcmahon during their match at kotr 2001

still bevens (bscrubbins), Thursday, 16 September 2004 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

53. TLC, I mean TLMFC. Particularly the fall from the 15 foot ladder through four tables

I kiss you Barry.

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Friday, 17 September 2004 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

2. Lou E Dangerously laying out Billy Corgan with Dangerous Alliance-tributing cellular phone shot.

THAT Billy Corgan??? I never heard about that. Details plz.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Saturday, 18 September 2004 07:47 (twenty-one years ago)

As it was stated the week the Hammerstein Ballroom was to happen...Billy Corgan showed up much to the delight of the crowd.

He came to the ring with "Mr. Old School" Steve Corino playing a horrible version of New York, New York...or that's what it sounded like to me. It wasn't that long before Lou E. Dangerously came to ringside to break up the trash talking of Corino about his title shot against Justin Credible at Anarchy Rulz.

As Lou E. Dangerously distracted both Corino and Corgan...ECW World Champion, Justin Credible came with Singapore Cane in hand. He slapped down Corino with it and Corgan got a hold of it to hit Justin with it weakly.

The Champion sold the shots like it wasn't someone with wimpy arms swinging it, and was being "choked out" in the corner as Lou E. Dangerously came up from behind with a thunderous shot from his cell phone.

Corgan received a legit concussion from the blow, and I must commend him even though he blew both spots on the shows he was on. All we need to do is get him to blade and he'll be like the rest of the ECW Locker room.

I got both shows on tape and that shot from the phone was ugly as Corgan got whacked with it. The sound was great though...and maybe Spike Dudley can teach Billy to swing that cane better like he did later on that night.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 18 September 2004 08:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Last years wrestlemania during the Hulk Hogan - McMahon match. Hulk was down in the middle of the ring, and McMahon rises himself up from the outside of the ring like Dr Jeckyll, covered in blood with the best pantomine evil look in the world ever on his face.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Funny how many of these ultimately go back to ECW. But hey, that's what ECW was about.

-the In Your House where Sandman, who was in the crowd, spits beer at Savio Vega. I never marked that hard.

-Hogan turning heel. Let's be honest; few of us actually believed it would happen, and seeing the ring fill with trash was totally awesome.

-Rey Misterio getting pitched like a lawn dart into the trailer.

-Almost the entirety of ECW's Wrestlepalooza 1997.

Alan Conceicao, Wednesday, 22 September 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh man that lawn darting was one of the greatest moments in nitro history. Bischoff getting powerbombed through the table comes a distant, distant second.

still bevens (bscrubbins), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh my god...you're right. Bischoff through the table at Great American Bash fufilled everything I wanted as a smark fan at the time in spades. God, what a great time for WCW. Shame Hogan came back and ruined it.

Alan Conceicao, Wednesday, 22 September 2004 20:12 (twenty-one years ago)

We should start the antithesis of this thread. the worst ideas ever thread or something along those lines.
