A Thread for Promos/Interviews

I was thinking recently about a segment from RAW the night after a Vince McMahon endorsed Mick Foley had lossed a pay-per-view match to Austin. As apparent punishment for the loss, Foley is ordered by Vince to wrestle his best friend Terry Funk in a hard core match.

A distraught Foley comes to the Dude Love set and publicly complains about this punishment. McMahon arrives and gives and amazing pep talk to Foley. He tells Mick that being forced to wrestle his best friend is actually a "reward."

Jim Ross and Lawler both voice their shock, matching the incredulity of Foley's facial reaction: Reward?

MacMahon:..because Mick if you can destory your best friend and tear his heart out and hold that heart above your head so the blood drips into your mouth...! Then I'll know you're ready for a rematch with Austin.

Vince delivers this satanic encouragement with relish as he pantomimes the action of holding Terry Funk's heart over his head. While MacMahon gives his schpiel we see Mick Foley gradually psyched up to destroy Funk and later Austin.

One of my favourite promos of all time was when ECW brought Dusty Rhodes in to feud with Steve Corino, to put over Corino's "Old School" gimmick. Dreadful matches (no shit, huh?), but Stevie C always delivers on the mic.

Anyway, so Corino's in the ring, trash talking Rhodes, and giving a list of his "crimes against wrestling". Lots of quasi-shoot comments about his abilities as a booker, a few gags about his son, and, then, as his final "crime": "You cut the brake pedal on Magnum TA's car".

"I'm Doug Gilbert, and Jerry Lawler raped a thirteen year old girl!"

Cactus Jack's Uncle Willie promo... in fact all of his ECW anti-hardcore promos in his feud with Tommy Dreamer where he lists all the broken and forgotten hardcore legends that sacrificed their health for the vampires.
