OH man, I thought wet burritos were something that I just had to deal with, I didn't know people preferred it.

― Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 12 October 2018 02:08 (five years ago) link
Wait is a wet burrito a size thing? I once ate two burritos from Burritoville on a dare. It was the last time my now spouse ever dared me to do something because neither one of us were really winners from that.
― Yerac, Friday, 12 October 2018 02:34 (five years ago) link
I am trying to think of something I would eat a hamburger over. Maybe a baked potato or fried rice.
― Yerac, Friday, 12 October 2018 02:37 (five years ago) link
wet burritos are just sauced, what are any of you on about
― gbx, Friday, 12 October 2018 02:40 (five years ago) link
also isn't the baby-sized burrito a specifically bay area thing (the mission burrito)? new mexican burritos are small and basically just one ingredient throughout ("hand-held")
― gbx, Friday, 12 October 2018 02:42 (five years ago) link
at our taqueria an unwrapped wet burrito is twice as wide as a wrapped burrito because they wrap em really tight & they are full of stuffidk about authentic or nothing tho
― Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 12 October 2018 02:43 (five years ago) link
The ones in LA/California are usually big (idk, 5 inches?), have red or green sauce, and melted cheese on topInside there’s usually rice, beans, meat, and sometimes lettuce/tomato/guacThe wet burritos in Vancouver, Canada are small and mild like most things in Vancouver and not common
― F# A# (∞), Friday, 12 October 2018 02:44 (five years ago) link
My burrito today I had to stand up in it's wrapper/foil and needed a spoon assist.
― Yerac, Friday, 12 October 2018 02:47 (five years ago) link
wait what the hell is an unwrapped burrito
― gbx, Friday, 12 October 2018 02:48 (five years ago) link
not wrapped in foil

I don't ever see it with sauce on top, but that size seems right. I don't think I would like the outer wrap all wet.
― Yerac, Friday, 12 October 2018 03:00 (five years ago) link
Tortilla yoGet outta here w “wrap”
― F# A# (∞), Friday, 12 October 2018 03:03 (five years ago) link

a wet burrito by definition has the sauce on top!
― gbx, Friday, 12 October 2018 03:06 (five years ago) link
why would you want a burrito covered in sauce
― I have measured out my life in coffee shop loyalty cards (silby), Friday, 12 October 2018 03:07 (five years ago) link
on the outside
The covered in sauce thing seems like something a Chili's would do.
― Yerac, Friday, 12 October 2018 03:09 (five years ago) link
XxxpIt’s an LA thing broA bunch of these things are called wet but they vary in size and sometimes they don’t add cheese on itLook at the pics on tepeyac’s or coyote’s yelp page

I thought LA people try not to poop.

my take on burritos: i'm all set
― call all destroyer, Friday, 12 October 2018 03:16 (five years ago) link
Extra sauce on anything is pretty terrible.
― Yerac, Friday, 12 October 2018 03:17 (five years ago) link
although this may be why i don't like soups or stews.
― Yerac, Friday, 12 October 2018 03:18 (five years ago) link
it isnt extra. It is the sauce.
― for i, sock in enumerate (Sufjan Grafton), Friday, 12 October 2018 03:18 (five years ago) link
wasn't there a thread about the weirdos who get extra sauce on pizza?
― Yerac, Friday, 12 October 2018 03:21 (five years ago) link
I had never heard of a wet burrito until I moved to the 🇺🇸 midwest. but it can be good nonetheless
― droit au butt (Euler), Friday, 12 October 2018 03:22 (five years ago) link
I was surprised to find them out here after moving from the midwest

I like ramen and udon but I always do the bukkake *sigh* style. And if I make instant ramen at home I pour out the broth.
― Yerac, Friday, 12 October 2018 03:33 (five years ago) link
Dont know how I missed this thread first go round.
I WILL EAT BECHAMEL ON ITS OWN OUT OF THE POT.
But I have to have made it myself obv. And it has to be spoon-standing thick. Comparing it to mayo upthread was utterly weird. Bechamel has no eggs* or vinegar in it.
*yes I have seen lasagne/bake recipes where it does.
― Stoop Crone (Trayce), Friday, 12 October 2018 03:43 (five years ago) link
Bukkake style is okay but i prefer nyumen, and then soumen
― F# A# (∞), Friday, 12 October 2018 03:58 (five years ago) link
I like the coldness of somen and the dipping. I prefer cold noodles.
― Yerac, Friday, 12 October 2018 12:13 (five years ago) link
rice is so useless
― mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Friday, 12 October 2018 12:22 (five years ago) link
Maybe once, it was a persian saffron chicken dish.
Rice is just, whatever. I am not one of those asians that eats it every day to feel complete.
― Yerac, Friday, 12 October 2018 12:28 (five years ago) link
Bukkake style is okay
I like the coldness of somen
A small double take there.

Japanese rice is the best in the world and if you have some fancy rice in japan, the difference is totally noticeable — it just tastes that much betterIt’s hard to eat white rice in north american asian restaurants after getting used to the fancy stuff
― F# A# (∞), Friday, 12 October 2018 13:43 (five years ago) link
I've been to Japan for a month. The rice is fine. I've been to Taiwan for in total maybe 6 months of my life. The rice is fine. Blech.
― Yerac, Friday, 12 October 2018 13:48 (five years ago) link
Lasagna with bechamel should be called bukkake style. I hate having to order ramen bukkake in american restaurants even though it's on the menu.
― Yerac, Friday, 12 October 2018 13:56 (five years ago) link
Lasagna with bechamel should be illegal.
Plenty of Japanese mostly skip the soup part of ramen, e.g. at Jiro-style places.
― droit au butt (Euler), Friday, 12 October 2018 14:38 (five years ago) link
I’ve literally had like a dozen types of rice all different quality in the course of a a couple months and if you can’t tell the difference you’re 1 mixing it with other stronger flavors and/or 2 you haven’t had someone to guide you through the differences in flavorIt’s like wine in some ways
― F# A# (∞), Friday, 12 October 2018 14:46 (five years ago) link
No, I get it. I still don't like rice.
