EZ Snappin, Monday, 29 November 2010 20:32 (thirteen years ago) link

doesn't Civ V use steamworks?

Nhex, Tuesday, 30 November 2010 00:29 (thirteen years ago) link

my haul:

- Deus Ex 1 & 2
- Torchlight
- L4D2
- Indie Story Pack (got it for Recettear & Puzzle Agent, don't like any of the other 3 games)
- Indie Pulse pack (got it for beat.trip.beat [I had stupidly picked up Audiosurf at $2.50 when it was on sale earlier in the week], haven't played any of the other 3 games yet but I hear Rhythm Zone hellasux)
- Indie Air Pack (got it for Altitude and yep that game owns a bunch right there)

also got Pac-Man CE DX/Dead Nation/Spelunker HD from a PSN share group and picked up Cave Story from DSiWare; it's been quite a week for digital distribution.

"Anus Landlord": A little rough, but good. (jamescobo), Tuesday, 30 November 2010 20:44 (thirteen years ago) link

tried to grab kotor and dirt but steam wouldn't allow it

grabbed splosion man, TMNT, magic: the gathering, and GTA: SA the other day when on sale on XBL (along with sonic & knuckles and PAC-MAN CE DX)

looking forward to the /actual/ steam xmas sale and eventually picking up an MBP to run the games

mo loko (cozen), Tuesday, 30 November 2010 21:12 (thirteen years ago) link

I ended up with Defense Grid, the Indie Story Pack, Machinarium, Monkey Island 2: SE and KOTOR.

If you bought Audiosurf and thne the story pack seriously e-mail Steam, they may jsut refund the first purchase. My roommate bought Civ IV (yes IV) a little while back, and realized he should ahve bought the "complete" IV pack, because it was like $5 more or something, e-mailed thme, and they allowed him to switch it around, after he had owned it for like a week.

bought but can't download right away - can I see my gfwl catalog (aoe3/deus EX) on the site?

mo loko (cozen), Thursday, 2 December 2010 20:18 (thirteen years ago) link

i think you need to do it through the client. GFW is a joke imo.

a nan, a bal, an anal ― (abanana), Thursday, 2 December 2010 23:42 (thirteen years ago) link

hmmmm, thanks. just couldn't see it on the site

the sooner all DD services become like steam the better and not just for games too. it's fkn criminal that in this day and age on itunes you have to e-mail apple if you want permission to redownload some mp3s if you lose them

Now through December 20th, the Great Steam Treasure Hunt will have folks spending time in the tropical sun, earning Steam Achievements in select games, joining Community groups, and earning a slot atop the Steam Leaderboards all in the name of winning free games. Every 48 hours a new set of four tasks will be announced. Select games will also be on sale throughout The Great Steam Treasure Hunt.

Completing a objective qualifies you for a drawing to win the top 5 games on your Wishlist. Each objective has its own drawing, so the more you complete, the better your chances. At the end of the Great Steam Treasure Hunt, there will also be three grand prize winners, each awarded 100 individual Steam games of their choosing. Importantly, our lawyers tell us at this point to say, "No purchase necessary" and to check out the official rules here: http://store.steampowered.com/treasurehunt.

The first objectives are:
# Self Portrait: Setup an avatar on your Steam Community profile.
# Got Tanked?: Earn the Desert Fox Steam Achievement in R.U.S.E.
# Up the Ante: Win The Iron Curtain in Poker Night at the Inventory
# More Cowbell: Set a leaderbord score of at least 1,124,400 in easy mode for the 'Paul Hartnoll' level in Chime

Games for Windows: Max Payne 2 for a buck
Poker Night at the Inventory is also on sale on Steam, but it's hard to imagine if you wanted it that you were waiting for it to drop from $5 to $3

Nhex, Tuesday, 7 December 2010 23:11 (thirteen years ago) link

OTOH, AAaaaa-etc. A Reckless Disregard for Gravity goes for $2.50 today, the price point I was in fact waiting around for this whole time

Nhex, Sunday, 12 December 2010 19:11 (thirteen years ago) link

zappi, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 17:55 (thirteen years ago) link

oh yeh & Valve gave away keys recently for the first bundle, so you can add the games for free to your Steam. hopefully this happens again with this bundle.

zappi, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 18:00 (thirteen years ago) link

totally getting that bundle just for Braid, and Machinarium is pretty slick too.

Nhex, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 18:36 (thirteen years ago) link

Osmos is well regarded but I haven't tried it yet.

I Am Kurious Assange (polyphonic), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 18:37 (thirteen years ago) link

Osmos features "sublime electronic soundtrack by Loscil, Gas/High Skies, Julien Neto, Biosphere, and more"? Why, I guess I am sold, then. Click!

Osmos is a great gaming experience and the soundtrack rocks (in an extremely ambient way of course)

A lot more indie packs for the upcoming holiday sale got "leaked" on CAG again, though the poster was annoyed that someone reposted the info on the official Steam forums *forehead palm*, for anyone who is interested, you should be able to find it pretty easily in the forum. All I gotta say is... potato?

Does anyone know of a way I can check to see if my Mac can run Civ V smoothly before I drop the cash and buy it?

another pay what you want thingy

is that Girl Talk album tomorrow? hah

Nhex, Saturday, 18 December 2010 16:56 (thirteen years ago) link

Mordy, what video card is in your Mac? The min spec for Civ V is a Radeon 2600/GeForce 8600. If you have Intel, forget it.
