Bought railworks WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?

JimD, Thursday, 23 December 2010 23:48 (thirteen years ago) link

haha! god why would you do that, why

how was that pinball game? i didn't even know it existed

Nhex, Friday, 24 December 2010 02:36 (thirteen years ago) link

S'alright. Physics modelling is pretty good, and it looks nice, but the table design isn't great. The Pro Pinball titles are old but they're all still totally playable, and are cheap on gog, and this isn't better than any of those.

It's the promise of realistically modelled grim suburban backstreets that sold me on railworks. I just want to sit in first class and look out of the window.

JimD, Friday, 24 December 2010 10:14 (thirteen years ago) link

Ha, also, one of the gameplay options is "exit on SPAD"!

damn you steam. i'm tempted to get New Vegas even though I just got FO3: GOTY on Monday...

wish that Borderlands sale was just a bit better, I would've bitten on all the DLC, but $20 for all 4 is just OK - they were cheaper during the summer sale!

the daily indie deal has generally been a dog, in contrast to the crazy value of the indie 5-packs

i almost want to get 1...2...3! (Kick That Beat Like An Ugly Baby) just because i love that title.

Nhex, Saturday, 2 April 2011 19:37 (thirteen years ago) link

Is that still worth grabbing if I've already got meat boy, audiosurf and bit trip beat? Kinda doesn't look it, but there's a lot of things I've never heard of in there.

JimD, Saturday, 2 April 2011 20:13 (thirteen years ago) link

Amnesia, Defense Grid, Killing Floor and AAAAAAAAA all look awfully good to me too.
yeah, i bought it.

slight even by tweet standards (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 2 April 2011 20:28 (thirteen years ago) link

this is also one of those rare packs where you can gift all your duplicate copies

Nhex, Saturday, 2 April 2011 23:01 (thirteen years ago) link

I was just being all "uhh well I dunno, £27 is more than I usually spend" and then I realised that it is 13 games, of which I want at least 4, and I used to have to spend £30 whenever I wanted a single game back in the early 90s when £30 was worth a lot more (PC games were a lot slower to come out on budget then iirc)

so I guess my point is, hooray for the internet, and for Steam and its offers, and for this thread

dimension hatris (a passing spacecadet), Sunday, 3 April 2011 00:12 (thirteen years ago) link

though I did think I wanted AaAaAA bcz I guess the name confused me into thinking it was like VVVVVV and just watching the video is making me feel weird so eh

(I am not good with heights, or 3d, or games where you have to rotate a lot)

dimension hatris (a passing spacecadet), Sunday, 3 April 2011 00:17 (thirteen years ago) link

had toki tori for gameboy color and it was quite fun. not sure if the version in this pack is a remake or what, tho.

what's a good inexpensive gamepad to play super meat boy with?

slight even by tweet standards (forksclovetofu), Monday, 4 April 2011 03:19 (thirteen years ago) link

use one of your xbox or ps3 pads

Nhex, Monday, 4 April 2011 03:36 (thirteen years ago) link

they work with a pc? i did not know this.

slight even by tweet standards (forksclovetofu), Monday, 4 April 2011 11:58 (thirteen years ago) link

don't know about the ps3 one, but xbox should but only if you have either the wired cable controller or a wireless receiver on your pc.

the normal charger cable that comes with the 360 does not work as a connecting cable on the pc

if you wanna gamble, take that shit to vegas (Ste), Monday, 4 April 2011 12:04 (thirteen years ago) link

you can use the PS3 controller but it may require some third party drivers/utilities or some such

wired usb 360 controller / wireless 360 controller w/receiver, definitely easier for most games, they'll autodetect/map the buttons. i often have to use that xbox 360 pad emulator w/my PS2 pad (it will work with pretty much any dual analog gamepad, though)

both options probably preferable to buying a PC-only pad

Nhex, Tuesday, 5 April 2011 04:02 (thirteen years ago) link
