$5 was my sweet spot for Bioshock 2

GOG has had these teaser banners on its main page in the last few days:

What game made you dream of the stars?
What game made you ride with the Outlaws?
What game made you fear your past?

A popular guess is Lucasarts (Star Wars, Outlaws, KOTOR).

Limbo will be 50% off this Friday (along with a bunch of other stuff) so I guess I'll finally get round to picking it up.

Has anyone been following the Portal 2/Potato Sack ARG? It is balls-out crazy how much work they've put into this.

Who wants free Audiosurf, and who wants free Super Meat Boy? First person to respond asking for each one gets it; I'd like them to go to separate people if possible. Spreading the luv, etc.

OK, just sent the pass via email. Have fun, and try not to snap your keyboard in half. Everything you've heard about the difficulty is completely true.

got it!

I guess I'll see how tough I am. my skills have definitely weakened over time but I do have a high tolerance for this type of thing. grew up on frustrating nintendo games and all that.

thanks!

They've done the impossible and made me play Wonderful End of the World, though I'm not exactly liking it. Every other game in the Potato Sack (and the later Dejobaan games, to be fair) have been worth it but TWEotW is an absolute nonentity, Katamari only much less so.

muus lääv? :D muus dut :( (Telephone thing), Saturday, 16 April 2011 00:03 (thirteen years ago) link

Well, on the one hand, I totally agree that TWEoTW is a shameless ripoff of Katamari with nothing new added and the original's manic, joyful intensity taken out.

On the other hand, it's the only one of the 3 Dejobaan games in the pack I actually enjoyed playing. 1-2-3 not only did nothing for me but it made me enjoy aaaaawhatever less because, to be honest, they're both gliding through hoops games to me. Pass-through-rings bonus levels were always the worst, don't find that a whole game of them is redeemed by points for throwing star jumps and flipping the bird.

(Side question: was Horace Goes Skiing the first slalom game? Since the other part of HGS is a steal of Frogger, which came out a year before, I'm inclined to think it may not be, but Googling is getting me nowhere.)

hahahah sadly true

it is sad but their is so much beauty (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 17 May 2011 00:41 (thirteen years ago) link

its pretty ingenious how they do this, when u think about it - instead of givin u a few days to think it over, either you're gonna buy something that day or not. every game becomes the starburst at the checkout counter.

And it's only five dollars! I mean, sure you don't have time to play it right now but it's worth five bucks JUST TO HAVE IT isn't it?

cant get todays deal

remove this man from the internet (Ste), Thursday, 19 May 2011 15:48 (thirteen years ago) link

Totally thought that Dixons thing was just one of the games til I went to the site. 4 games for free, can't complain. Never played Alpha Protocol, and can hopefully do some multiplayer Medieval with my flatmate. No real opinion on the other two games, but it'll take a while to download all those GBs anyway. Cheers for the tip!
