if your character has kids tho, that's p interesting!
I don't think he does. Having kids just appears to be a part of his dream/plan of settling down.
Hope you get to fly the crop duster. Anyway, the big, shiny version of the trailer

GTA game looks like a GTA game, and I'm okay with that. Slightly disappointed that they didn't take the franchise out of the US though. I'd have loved a European setting, + giving it a Bourne Identity flavour. But.
― DavidM, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 18:51 (twelve years ago) link
gimme a break, a gta set outside the US would suck ass, even doing london again would be lame
― the jazz zinger (s1ocki), Wednesday, 2 November 2011 18:52 (twelve years ago) link
looks very same-y, I am disappoint. was hoping for gta:midwest. drive 45 minutes to walmart, mission complete.

i'd love to seem them do a non-gridded city but that's about it

they should do a gta-style open world game of thrones game, if they decide to base one on the property
― the jazz zinger (s1ocki), Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:07 (twelve years ago) link
truth be told, i really want a post-apocalyptic gta. fallout + carmageddon + saints row 2.
― ride the dronosaur (jjjusten), Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:08 (twelve years ago) link
fallout 3 basically WAS that, but a bit more rpg-y
― the jazz zinger (s1ocki), Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:10 (twelve years ago) link
repegenarian, i guess is the word
I would only be interested in GTA if it got mapped onto a franchise/movie like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"
― he carried yellow flowers (DJP), Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:10 (twelve years ago) link
this trailer does look sweet. i wonder how much of it is actual gameplay.
― Mordy, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:12 (twelve years ago) link
but s1ocki i want cars and i want to run people over with them/shoot missiles out of them. also with tight maps full of busted up shit and jumps and stuff. basically what borderlands tried to do but the car parts sucked
xpost my heart says not one bit of that is gameplay
― ride the dronosaur (jjjusten), Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:13 (twelve years ago) link
GTA4 was so boring, but in part b/c I don't care about NYC as a place to spend time, unless it were like Saints Row 2 & I can shoot bazookas to knock down trains or (unlike Saints Row 2) otherwise rearrange the environment. Like, I want to level buildings & destroy highways etc. Alternately I want it to be a place I like, but I'm fairly picky that way & LA certainly doesn't interest me. So alas.
― Euler, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:13 (twelve years ago) link
also gang faction missions would be a lot more fun if like your boss was wearing shoulderpads and telling you to bring him the head of grog the unmerciful
― ride the dronosaur (jjjusten), Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:15 (twelve years ago) link
plus in the nuclear wastes your cell phone wouldnt work and so your cousin couldnt call you to try and get you to play pool with him.
I still have this idea of combining the different Vice Cities and Liberty Cities into a time-travel game -- where you're walking through a Disney Times Square, enter the subway, and come out in Taxi Driver 70s. And in BTTF style, you could have the mayor in the 70s look like the homeless pedestrian in 2010, etc.
― pplains, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:15 (twelve years ago) link
i've said this on like every rockstar thread but gta4 didn't have enough driving in it!
― goole, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:16 (twelve years ago) link
they were saving all that awesome driving fun for l.a. noire obv
― ride the dronosaur (jjjusten), Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:17 (twelve years ago) link
fallout with cars would be... interesting. i did LOVE carmaggeds 2
― the jazz zinger (s1ocki), Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:18 (twelve years ago) link
i actually went back and tried to reopen my gta iv save and it was so unfun in the first 10 minutes that i just popped in saints row 2 and shot bazookas at gas stations for a while

gta iv was SUCH a letdown. still havent forgiven them for giving you three clothing stores, and making two of them identical. WHY DID YOU DO THAT
― the jazz zinger (s1ocki), Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:22 (twelve years ago) link
fallout with cars would be fallout 2
― Mordy, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:22 (twelve years ago) link
I was bummed about GTA4 mostly because The Warriors' NYC was so much more real.
― pplains, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:23 (twelve years ago) link
gta iv got too up its own ass with the story and forgot to tell it via interesting and varied mission design. they kinda woke up and did it on the dlc's tho
― goole, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:25 (twelve years ago) link

the gta dlc's give me hope it'll be good. gay tony was great.

I liked the Warriors, though I never played it. It was dark, had neat sidegames, got to play as different characters, wasn't all "there are 12 targets in this warehouse before you reach the guy who jumps through a window and gets away or dies." There was one fight that pretty much felt like what it would be like to crawl around in a dark vacant lot, looking for a brick to throw at some unknown perpetrator.
Plus you could hang out in the Warriors clubhouse, work out on the punching bag and chill with some Joe Walsh tunes.
― pplains, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 20:10 (twelve years ago) link
I played it through to the end.
godammit, I LIKE THE WARRIORS THOUGH I NEVER PLAYED IT THROUGH TO THE NED.
― pplains, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 20:11 (twelve years ago) link
okay, just leaving that last one stand on its own. you get the gist.
lol

I'm bored of LA as a setting for open world video games but I like that they widened the scope a bit, a la San Andreas. You get the beach and the hills and the orange groves and the barrio and etc.
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 21:22 (twelve years ago) link
otm, Gay Tony was actually gtaiv for me. in fact my 360 also seems to think that too.
― Summer Slam! (Ste), Wednesday, 2 November 2011 21:32 (twelve years ago) link
seriously half of gtaIV was drive here, get out, listen to someone talk, shoot six guys, escape wanted level, collect $600.
― goole, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 21:35 (twelve years ago) link
The thing that needs the most work is just the core shooting mechanics. Red Dead was a huge improvement, and even that game is a little wonky compared to something great. And there's no reason why GTA couldn't have a good brawling system like Arkham City's.
