BBxTAG demo with 20 characters out for this weekend

Nhex, Friday, 11 May 2018 06:39 (five years ago) link

im garbage at this style of fighting game but can still tell this is a fun one

ciderpress, Friday, 11 May 2018 23:29 (five years ago) link

I gave it a shot for a while and yeah serious fighters are probably just not going to happen for me

valorous wokelord (silby), Saturday, 12 May 2018 03:40 (five years ago) link

was enjoying beating up other newbies with linne for a bit even though i have no familiarity with the game she's from but all the persona kids and sol badguy-alikes are boring to me. feel like i only have room on my switch for one non-smash fighting game and i doubt this is the one, my puny brain can't deal with the tag team mechanics.

ciderpress, Saturday, 12 May 2018 04:06 (five years ago) link

"Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st]" is an unimpeachable game name though

ciderpress, Saturday, 12 May 2018 04:12 (five years ago) link

other wacky fighters heading Switch-ward this year - see Blade Strangers (crossover game of... random indie characters) and SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy

Under Night is pretty great! problem is it took three years for the last version to make it over here, and it released the week after Dragonball FighterZ

Nhex, Saturday, 12 May 2018 06:33 (five years ago) link

Backed Bloodstained belatedly (that make me a so-called "slacker backer"?) because now they're sending out that 8-bit retro game for free with it as well. Seems fun!

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 12 May 2018 14:54 (five years ago) link

i bought a microSDXC memory card for my Switch and now i can't find a converter. i have several microSD to SD converters but they are too big to fit in the Switch! please tell me there is a microSD to whatever Switch compatible SD i can get (and what it's called)...

Hazy Maze Cave (Adam Bruneau), Saturday, 12 May 2018 15:00 (five years ago) link

switch uses microSD

ciderpress, Saturday, 12 May 2018 15:03 (five years ago) link

the port is behind the kickstand

ciderpress, Saturday, 12 May 2018 15:05 (five years ago) link

hah omg there is! i thought i was going to have to fit it into where the games go

Hazy Maze Cave (Adam Bruneau), Saturday, 12 May 2018 15:06 (five years ago) link

:O

valorous wokelord (silby), Saturday, 12 May 2018 15:18 (five years ago) link

yeah it took me a minute but i figured out what you were doing wrong

ciderpress, Saturday, 12 May 2018 15:23 (five years ago) link

also, woah at the Bloodstained 8-bit game coming out in like 2 weeks!

Hazy Maze Cave (Adam Bruneau), Saturday, 12 May 2018 15:25 (five years ago) link

Wow that actually looks pretty 8-bitty

El Tomboto, Saturday, 12 May 2018 15:31 (five years ago) link

played a bit more blazblue crosstag this morning, still awful at it but i'm enjoying it more now

ciderpress, Saturday, 12 May 2018 15:35 (five years ago) link

xp inti creates does good work generally on these retro style games

ciderpress, Saturday, 12 May 2018 15:38 (five years ago) link

yeah i'm actually becoming tempted to get blazblue xtag now that i understand what it's doing, auto-combos + the super-condensed control scheme are exactly what i want in a fighting game. still not convinced i need a trad fighting game though with smash on the way

jamiesummerz, Monday, 14 May 2018 15:19 (five years ago) link

big if true

valorous wokelord (silby), Monday, 14 May 2018 15:34 (five years ago) link

is that like diddy kong racing?

diamonddave85 (diamonddave85), Monday, 14 May 2018 15:46 (five years ago) link

i guess? It's the rumoured new Retro studio game. Could be awesome if done well? They did Mario Kart 7... generally make amazing games...

jamiesummerz, Monday, 14 May 2018 15:49 (five years ago) link

A star fox racing game where you’re the pit crew leader and all you do is communicate to the driver via radio, and you have to be Pepe

obviously DLC (Karl Malone), Monday, 14 May 2018 15:51 (five years ago) link

lol

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 14 May 2018 16:02 (five years ago) link

space racing is just space combat with no shooting

valorous wokelord (silby), Monday, 14 May 2018 16:08 (five years ago) link

that logo is fake iirc but the rumor is still valid

ciderpress, Monday, 14 May 2018 16:29 (five years ago) link

Keeping tabs on nearly-baseless-rumor threads on ResetEra just makes me feel insane but I’ve stopped using Twitter so I don’t know what else to refresh all day.

valorous wokelord (silby), Monday, 14 May 2018 16:34 (five years ago) link

ciderpress what is your friend code

valorous wokelord (silby), Monday, 14 May 2018 16:34 (five years ago) link

SW-1126-4943-0808

i think that's right, if it's a yoshi egg avatar then it's me

ciderpress, Monday, 14 May 2018 16:49 (five years ago) link

i wonder if the Switch is powerful enough to eventually support a VR peripheral. the Switch has gyros, it has motion tracking, in both the screen and the joycons. it would surprise me if Nintendo does not eventually do something like that. or if not them, then it seems like someone might be able to fabricate a Gear VR-style holder for the Switch, Labo-style.

Hazy Maze Cave (Adam Bruneau), Monday, 14 May 2018 20:34 (five years ago) link

it is not powerful enough for VR

ciderpress, Monday, 14 May 2018 20:40 (five years ago) link

Also other companies are doing VR, so Nintendo won’t be interested since it wouldn’t be a point of differentiation for the hardware

valorous wokelord (silby), Monday, 14 May 2018 20:57 (five years ago) link

Why would you want to add chunky peripherals to a system whose main selling point is being portable AND a console

El Tomboto, Monday, 14 May 2018 20:57 (five years ago) link

good point. i would advise against using it while driving your car or taking the bus or being on an airplane.

Hazy Maze Cave (Adam Bruneau), Monday, 14 May 2018 21:14 (five years ago) link

ciderpress I’m the Kirby who added u

valorous wokelord (silby), Tuesday, 15 May 2018 02:49 (five years ago) link

Today it’s Pokemon rumors, something about this year’s games being a revisit/reimagining of the Kanto region featuring Pikachu and Eevee versions.

Also the story mode for Mario Tennis has gotten more details in a trailer. Luigi gets kidnapped! Experience points and equipment upgrades!

Also fresh trailer for Octopath. The big thing there is as you collect the protagonists into your party you can switch whose story you are playing through at any time within your one save file.

valorous wokelord (silby), Tuesday, 15 May 2018 18:01 (five years ago) link

Mario tennis looking less and less skippable... too many games to play this summer

ciderpress, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 18:58 (five years ago) link

Online test tournament June 1-3 for Tennis; I like these network stress tests disguised as free previews.

valorous wokelord (silby), Tuesday, 15 May 2018 19:00 (five years ago) link

yeah they're good except sometimes they cause me to suddenly have another game i want to buy that i could have remained blissfully unaware of like the blazblue one

ciderpress, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 19:03 (five years ago) link

hah!

Nhex, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 19:07 (five years ago) link

that's your fault for posting about in here I'll have you know. turned out to be my favorite fighting game I've played in ages, mechanically

ciderpress, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 19:09 (five years ago) link

also wizard of legend is out today, it's now the good roguelite

ciderpress, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 19:49 (five years ago) link

xp not on Switch, but if you haven't, take a look at the fighting systems for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite (very similar w/2v2 and fluid change outs) and Dragonball FighterZ especially being pretty accessible. Even last year's KOF has single button autocombos as well
(I'm kinda sorta looking forward to Blade Strangers and SNK Heroines as well)

Nhex, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 20:14 (five years ago) link

i'll probably give blade strangers a try, it looks kinda trashy but the roster is hilarious. did they ever make more umehara kawase games or is her inclusion just an extremely deep cut?

ciderpress, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 20:18 (five years ago) link

not really looking for non switch fighters atm and it's sacrilegious to say it but ive never really liked dbz's character designs in general so that's less appealing to me even if it does come to switch

ciderpress, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 20:21 (five years ago) link

awwwwwww. but Toriyama did Chrono Trigger and all the Dragon Quest games too! (though with... less blonde spiky hair)

the PSP Umehara games got ported to PC in 2015 - that's the last I've heard of the series. but yes, that is a ridiculous deep cut

Nhex, Wednesday, 16 May 2018 04:37 (five years ago) link

err, Vita/3DS, not PSP. got the generation wrong

Nhex, Wednesday, 16 May 2018 04:38 (five years ago) link

Toriyama’s DQ characters are his best, tbf. DBZ is a quagmire of indistinguishable five-heads and unpleasantly rigid musculature.

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 16 May 2018 04:45 (five years ago) link

i like the chrono trigger and DQ designs, just not dbz

lol not only is kawase in but some other character from those games is now - even deeper cut
