it is very very fun as expected but the matchmaking system is shit slow... like a full minute to wait to start.
I am presuming/hoping that's a beta issue. Once that's fixed, this is gonna be addictive stuff especially if there's ultimately a way to get matched in a group with your friends.

i made it to the top 5 once!

so far i think it's a lot of fun. i struggle with the tail-grabbing based games, though. i don't think i quite get how the mechanic works, if i need to hold it or just tap it, etc

the one where you have to have a tail by the end is insta-death for me. honestly i think i'm probably just getting owned by adolescents with kid-god reflex powers. we all run the same speed, there's no dash button - so if i can't catch the people with tails it's probably just because they're better. but even when i do manage to get one, it's almost always stolen back from me within a couple seconds. it's just crazy hard (for me)

also, i'm muting the music because it is designed to make you feel delirious. which is AWESOME and exciting sometimes, but also makes me feel like i'm going to have a heart attack

phew. i just turned it off. i feel like i just stepped outside of a club for a cigarette out back

I'm terrible at it but it's very fun. you really need to have your phone with you though; load times are less atrocious than the beta but it's about 35% waiting and 65% playing if you're winning and 50/50 if you're not.

i want an option to take the tailgrabbing games out of my queue. i accept that others might like them. it's not just that i suck at grabbing and maintaining tails. it's that it goes against the core strength of the game, which is running in a horde toward a goal, dodging objects. trying to guess where humans go (playing tag, basically), is not fun. attacking a giant balance beam with it's shift of balance wildly changing sides as you approach it is fun.

I saw a good technique for the disappearing pads final course on Limmy's stream, not that I'll ever get that far because I'm a fall guy.

The troll thing of players hanging around the finish line to get in the way and pull players back makes me laugh.

I like how the game makes you make 2 second alliances with your rivals for your common good e.g. on the seesaws.

Losing your tail at the last second is the rage quit trigger for me.

Is it actually possible to be exceptionally good at this game? You're at the mercy of the herd in so many rounds.

It's possible to perfect strategy and technique on many of the courses to improve your odds but there's a lot of luck involved.
The combination of luck and skill and silliness gives it a really broad user base to attract. Plus it's a format that allows for expansion once we get bored with picking the wrong fucking door every time.

Played this a bit last night, really fun! I don't know how I'll feel about the game in a month, but for the next few days I'll be playing loads, I'm sure.

I'm awful at anything that requires pushing giant balls though, the physics are still opaque to me.

If there's any question about luck or skill in terms of winning a show, I just won my first two tonight, and that's my second day of playing. The first time, I was in second at Fall Mountain, and the guy ahead of me was literally standing still on the edge of the path to the crown, right under it, and I managed to jump over him to snatch the crown. (Maybe they had network issues?) The second win, the final was Royal Fumble with a total of 5 players and I STARTED OUT WITH THE TAIL. In fact, even though I lost it a few times, I still held onto it for a total of probably a full minute.

Incidentally, I figured out that to grab a tail, you just need to have R2 held down while being somewhat close to the tail haver -- you don't need to actually touch them.

but can you hold R2 and then run near them, or do you have to first press R2 when you're a certain distance from them?

I think the first one, though I think the trade-off is that when you're holding R2, you run more slowly.

Over a couple of days everybody realized you should use the Dive button, which has made things even goofier. Now there's even more collisions and bumping around.

I found a shortcut in the Whirlygig! In the middle of the level where you have to climb up on two platforms, you can instead ride the escalator ramp and jump to get straight onto the top platform.

Also, the competition today has gotten a lot fiercer!

That moment when you mistime your jump at the end of Fall Mountain, scream and hope that it doesn't sound like an "I'm being murdered" scream, then push that thought to the back of your mind as you dive right back into the next episode.

Hex-a-gone just pwnz me; I haven't played much 3D platforming so even though I usually go with the "drop all the way to the last level and start creating huge holes for your opponents to fall into" tactic, I so far have always managed to eliminate myself that way.

I've been getting a lot of unbalanced teams which is really a drag. It was 6 on 5 in Fall Ball ... that's almost a guaranteed loss unless the other guys suck.

I'm kinda surprised it's still going strong. F2P seems like the natural direction for Fall Guys.
Found it fun for a little bit when it came out, but how have people not burned out quickly? With Fortnite they constantly lure people back in with licensed character cosmetics, so I can understand that. But I'm too impatient, have having to queue up for games like this vs. phone game dopamine hits.
