Anyone dabble?

In the late 80s and early 90s I played a ton of Games Workshop games: Blood Bowl, Epic-Scale 40k, Warhammer Fantasy Battle/40k, and other games thrown in. Sometimes used paper counters instead because I couldn't afford all the miniatures. I got back into 40k in the early 00s, but probably haven't played in at least 15 years.

I've played a bit of Battletech, but never did a deep dive.

Played a lot of Car Wars in the 80s, but that was cardboard counters instead of physical miniatures. Same with Starfleet Battles.

I play a lot of Blood Bowl these days. Used to play in the early-mid 90s, plus 40k, and then didn’t touch anything for 20+ years. Picked Blood Bowl up again about 18 years ago. Mostly play online via Fumbbl as it’s convenient, but I love getting an actual pitch and models out.

Loved Bloodbowl, it was probably the only Games Workshop game that worked for non-nerds.

I have always been so fucking bad at painting miniatures it's ridiculous. It's really hard!

Before that, when I was a kid Crossbows & Catapults was the rage for a couple years.

Is Bloodbowl much different now? Does it still have a teeny ball that's easy to lose?

It's all about the chainsaw refs in BB.

I got into Games Workshop on a childhood trip to the UK and returned to my little isolated island with miniatures to paint and rulebooks to read, but alas never found anyone to play with me.

These days it's the reverse: I have a group but we play Warhammer RPG on the computer, thus no minis.

Coming back to it after so many years I am quite baffled by all this Age of Sigmar stuff, I guess warhammer gets rebooted like the Marvel and DC universes do? And the RPG warhammer universe is slightly different too?

Age of Sigmar is just a way to make everything copyrightable by GW, since they couldn’t claim the old-style elves and dwarves and orcs, etc.

I’ve been GMing 4th edition Enemy Within mainly via Zoom for coming up three years!

Blood Bowl is basically the same. The rules have evolved slightly but third edition in the mid 90s is the framework.

My teenager really wants to get into warhammer but none of her friends are biting. Its like me and D&D when I was a kid but D&D is everywhere now!

Still seems apparent that some streamers are reviving this stuff for the new generation.
