I couldn't find a thread for this, apologies if there already is one. this thread isn't about consoles, PCs per se (there are threads for those things) but mostly focused on, like, input/output devices that wouldn't be covered elsewhere. What are you using to play yr games? What controllers do you love? which ones do you HATE

thinking about this because i was recently playing dungeon encounters on my pc and i had to switch controllers mid-game because my thumb was startign to hurt from the xbox one controller's d-pad! it feels precise but it is so SHARP and has no give.

for the mister i had been picking up various 8bitdo controllers -- the snes one, the 6-button sega one, and eventually the "pro 2," and my review of everything of theirs is "hell yeah" so far. Everything feels real nice, and any little issues i have are mostly issues with the devices they're homages to - e.g. the snes controller feels small in my now-adult hands. if you were on the fence on their stuff, let this be your fence-toppling review. they're good folks!

xb1 controller is fine for analog, does not stand up to a long d-pad sesh

i bet some of y'all are playing around on hitboxes and i'd love to hear about that. it feels like the video game equivalent of switching to dvorak. like maybe it's better but some day you're gonna be out in public and have to use the other thing and it's gonna feel foreign

what else... remember steel battalion? lol

what is youze using to make the litle guy move around the screen!

I posted about this on another thread but I've been using the Victrix Pro controller instead of/in addition to the regular PS5 controller because it's slightly smaller and lighter, and I have a problem with gripping the controller too tightly in a way that aggravates some tendonitis issues. If the PS5 would let me just use the PS4 controller with PS5 games, I would totally do that.

It's ok, it's cool that it's modular and you can change the buttons and sticks around in different positions, and change out different d-pads and sticks. The triggers are very sensitive, the d-pad is touchy and kind of wonky (although maybe it would be better if I downloaded their app on a computer and updated the firmware, but for now I don't have a computer capable of interacting with the Microsoft store), and I haven't used the back paddles because I trigger them accidentally too often. Also you need to disable the back paddles every time you turn on the controller, but it just takes a moment.

I don't think it has vibration/haptics either, but that's honestly kind of a pro for me (or at least I don't really care). Anway it's nice to at least have another option to switch up the ergonomics, but I'd really love an official PS5 controller that's the size and shape of a PS4 controller for small-handed folks.

My Switch Pro controller developed prodigious drift while I was working through TOTK, so I replaced it with the 8bitdo Ultimate wireless, and it's pretty good! The assignable rear paddles are nice, and it has the (allegedly) drift-free Hall effect sticks. My only gripe so far is that the d-pad is a little stiff and occasionally squeaky.

My current PC controller is an 8bitdo Pro 2. Best PC controller I've ever had -- easy wireless connections, no latency issues, good sturdy feel.

Previous one was an 8bitdo N30 pro. The left analog stick broke. Buttons had a tendency to stick too. I liked how small it was but I guess there were drawbacks to that.

Before that I had the logitech one they used in the death sub. Windows kept replacing its drivers with generic ones that didn't work. I eventually gave up.
