So um I just started playing this yesterday and it is kind of amazing me right now - I'm nowhere near rogueist enough to think the 1985 graphics don't detract but dude you can't rest, that is so hardcore and awesome.

Someone else start playing this with me! We can compare progress and shit. People who've played it already can talk about it here too I guess but PLEASE PLEASE don't post any sort of spoilers or hints or advice, I'm really into this.

Sure thing, I used to love that game, and can't remember one single thing about it.

Can I get it from Underd0gs?

Not that I can see. I'm in if there's a way to get it.

I don't think I've ever been so proud of getting some dudes to level 2.

I've got the other 2 Bard's Tales when you're ready, Gravel. I've barely played 2 but I played 3 a lot back in the day and imho it's even awesomer than the original.

Oh god this is addictive, I must have put in 20-odd hours the last two days. My party is coming on, I just got my first sorceror, so sweet. Also I *love* how hard it makes you work to find a dungeon - I've just found my first one, graph paper time!

Haha NV I will probably take you up on that!

Kingfish I really like the idea of this being an ILG thing, when we finish one game! I have always wanted to play wasteland.

INTO THE SEWERS

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 06:06 (twenty years ago)

Holy crap, how disturbing is it for music to start coming out of the actual computer case (motherboard speaker?) rather than the speakers? I had forgotten really old games were like that.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 06:38 (twenty years ago)

Dosbox will be run tonight.

jdubz (ex machina), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 16:20 (twenty years ago)

Is anyone else's bard really irritatingly useless?

(also how are y'all doing? I am still in the sewers, exciting incomprehensible inscriptions yay)

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

Jon have you started this yet? I might join the party tonight.

REMINDER:
I NEED TO UPGRADE RADNOR/DOSBOX

Alex in Novosibirsk (ex machina), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 23:20 (twenty years ago)

seven years pass...

The updated version is currently $2.50 on steam.

Comes with originals, apparently.

yeah was more tempted by a trouble-free copy of the originals than the remake tbh
