I'd just like to take this opportunity and state that "Toe Jam & Earl" represented a rare cultural peak in the young history of video games.

kingfish (it was best played when wearing Cross Colours) (kingfish 2.0), Friday, 13 January 2006 16:40 (twenty years ago)

I was just thinking about that game! Did it come out on anything besides Genesis?

i just made a toe jam & earl joke last week!!

I think it's a Genesis exclusive, yeah.

Oh my god, I love DecapAttack! I actually finished it a couple of months ago for the first time since the early 90s.

Has anyone played Japan's version, "Magical Flying Hat Turbo Adventure"? (I am not lying here)

It's the same thing!

I just read that! That's crazy...I wonder how many other twee J-games could be improved with a horrorcore facelift.

I don't think I ever finished Decapattack, but I loved it.

what, like Earthbound with much more zombie rape?

kingfish kuribo's shoe (kingfish 2.0), Friday, 13 January 2006 21:22 (twenty years ago)

There was already some zombie rape?

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 13 January 2006 21:29 (twenty years ago)

it was one of the little-found sidequests with that R&B band that drives you around.

Maybe I'll buy a Genesis

Toejam & Earl 2 was so much better than the first one.

Flower King of Flies (noodle vague), Friday, 13 January 2006 21:50 (twenty years ago)

decap attack was great!

anyone ever play gain ground? terrible, terrible game in all rational respects, yet somehow compelling. perhaps the best part, like many co-op games, was the fact that instead of working together frequently greed took over and you'd scoop up the little extra-life dolls that your buddy desperately needed.

also, probably the only game with literal spear-tossing tribesmen and flamethrower-wielding futurewarriors fighting side-by-side

Blasphemy!

This thread prompted me to play Decapattack (bloody hell it's harder than I remember) and Toe Jam & Earl (still classic, SUPER HI-TOPS!) on my Genesis emulator.

If you stick the hearts up to three it's easy! I still can't complete it on two, I don't know why it's the default.
