It must be out soon, anyone heard anything?

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:39 (nineteen years ago)

I saw a video of it running on the DS (looks good!). That's about all. I did hear that they've had to make it harder for the US/Europe markets, which is just as well as when I tried the latest Winning Eleven I won as Scotland against France 4-0 on 5-Star...

Craig Gilchrist (Craig Gilchrist), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 13:37 (nineteen years ago)

January 2007 last I checked. I can't wait. Although the NG FIFA title actually isn't bad (even though they cribbed practically everything pro-evo started... it's insane, those guyses biting)

Will M. (Will M.), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 21:38 (nineteen years ago)

on the DS?! oh man oh man oh man.

H2-H4 (H2-H4), Thursday, 28 September 2006 04:18 (nineteen years ago)

WTF I have to keep going back to play on the two star setting because three stars pummels me.

To be honest, when I was playing it there was two of us on the same team, which made it a little easier.

Release date is 27th of October for us Europeans apparently! That's for XBOX360, XBOX, PC and PS2. The DS and PSP versions will be later.

Craig Gilchrist (Craig Gilchrist), Monday, 2 October 2006 06:57 (nineteen years ago)

20th of October I heard...

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 2 October 2006 10:12 (nineteen years ago)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 25 October 2006 16:41 (nineteen years ago)

it was released here today, on the sly presumably, I couldn't go and get it tho, didn't have time...

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 25 October 2006 22:02 (nineteen years ago)

Soooo, can we get an update here??

is anyone anticipating the new Baaderonixx? (baaderonixx), Friday, 27 October 2006 07:26 (nineteen years ago)

I'm too busy all weekend so I wont get to even buy this until Monday. :(

Craig Gilchrist (Craig Gilchrist), Friday, 27 October 2006 07:52 (nineteen years ago)

I've had no PS2 or TV for 5 weeks and am twitching from withdrawal.

I'm thinking about buying it just to look at the box.

Mickey Neuman (Ferg), Friday, 27 October 2006 09:54 (nineteen years ago)

I HAVE IT RIGHT HERE ON MY DESK NEXT TO THE COMPUTER AT WORK

i'm leaving work at 6pm sharp.

i saw it at GAME. looks nice! seems smoother than pro evo 5. and prettier. maybe slower though, but i said that about pro evo 5 when it came out and it was all good.

omg ogmo ogm ogmomogmogg

ken c (ken c), Friday, 27 October 2006 12:29 (nineteen years ago)

arghghhhh

I've read complaints that it just reverts to the pro Evo 4 too easy to run past players thing, and that the goalkeepers are crap and spill shots too easily

The IGN review just says like, nah, the goalkeepers are better, the defences are more intelligent on both sides and the AI actually has some attacking nous

Also the first one was perhaps a review of Winning Eleven from earlier in the year I dunno

I'm quite happy to buy an updated, slightly tightened up version of a game I've already got once a year anyway, I bear Konami so much irrational goodwill at this stage that if they just set up a Paypal account I'd give money to them regularly

Fraggle O Rly (Ferg), Friday, 27 October 2006 12:49 (nineteen years ago)

I mean shit I could just buy loads of their games and that I guess but y'know it'd be more incremental spare amounts here and there

Fraggle O Rly (Ferg), Friday, 27 October 2006 12:52 (nineteen years ago)

defences are more intelligent yes! (in pro evo 5 the defenders who aren't the one you control were SPAZZES, but now they actually seem to be clever-ish)

but it's easy to run past players yes! there are all kinds of tricks and stuff provided they're the right players

but now it's harder to score because you need decent space to have a fair chance of a good shot.

but it was disappointing that me and my flatmate now regularly get FIFA style scorelines now (like 5-1, 6-2 etc wtf) which can be entertaining in a way but isn't in another in that it takes away the tension somewhat of scoring which used to be notoriously difficult!!

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 29 October 2006 09:54 (nineteen years ago)

5-1,6-2???!! What happened to the joy of churning out endless series of 0-0 draws?

is anyone anticipating the new Baaderonixx? (baaderonixx), Monday, 30 October 2006 09:32 (nineteen years ago)

my gf bought this at the weekend. i've yet to play it.
lack of 0-0 draws will be something of a blessing.

teh_kit (g-kit), Monday, 30 October 2006 09:44 (nineteen years ago)

I played this in Game against a guy who was in training for a tournament. He beat me 1-0 but he was Brazil and I had a couple of shots on target despite the pad having no working shoulder buttons so I didn't feel too bad. Seemed agreeably tweaked, particularly the crossing. Also when he scored with Adriano the ball hit the net hard and rolled back out the six yard area which looked cool.

I derived a bizarre satisfaction from the initial furrowed-brow-learning -curve-grim-goalless-draws-away-to-Bolton shit at the beginning of my PES5 tenure, it made me feel like I was on some ascetic monk shit or something.

Mickey Neuman Snr (Ferg), Monday, 30 October 2006 10:58 (nineteen years ago)

i had time to squeeze in a quick friendly match last night before i went out - 10 minutes later, i'd given Greece a 4-0 drubbing. I think i'm gonna like this a whole lot more than PE5.

teh_kit returns! (g-kit), Thursday, 2 November 2006 10:43 (nineteen years ago)

Just catching up with this - the through-balls seem GREAT - you catch a team on the break with a winger in space and it plays the ball well in front of them for them to run onto, and I managed to hit a beautiful little diagonal long ball off the instep of Patrik Berger, of all people.

Not so keen on losing 3-0 to Arsenal because every shot they have flies between my keeper's hands no matter how tame, while they hack me down from behind in the penalty area, IN MAR GROUND, without it even being acknowledged as potentially a tad controversial.

Mickey Neuman Snr (Ferg), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 10:02 (nineteen years ago)

It's difficult, still getting the hang of it.

I like the way the ball doesn't quite stick to players so quickly, in the midfield, getting to a 50-50 ball first with a full stretch X pass can be the catalyst for a goal scoring attack.

Also Ronaldinho is fucking unholy in this game...just impossible to stop.

I am still getting the through passes down, they seem to be more responsive to how long you hold the button than before, to do an ambitious one you have to hold it for a good while. The keepers are strange, they seem to save anything from outside the box (particularly the traditional low drive from the 18 yard line that was so effective) and then will just fuck up sporadically.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 10:24 (nineteen years ago)

Does this game have a 50-60hz selector in the PAL-English version?

Will M. (Will M.), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 20:46 (nineteen years ago)

Yes.

Hmm. I've been playing what I think is the Japanese equivalent (dunno, it's my mate's and I'm always drunk when I play it) and Ronaldinho is pretty shit. Adriano is an unstoppable killing machine though. You have to roundhouse him to knock him off the ball. Carles Puyol also moves at the speed of a glacier, which although somewhat true to life can be annoying.

struttin' with some barbecue (jimnaseum), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 00:58 (nineteen years ago)

I like the way the keepers sometimes spill the ball and you can nip on to it if you have a quick enough striker near by, I mean sort of knock it out of their hands rather than just slam in a rebound. looks very realistic.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 12:06 (nineteen years ago)

Ok people need to go to the "PES Shop" part and look at "Costume Change" and then "Extra Hairstyles".

WTF have they been smoking at PES headquarters...couldn't stop laughing at this last night....

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 18 November 2006 22:47 (nineteen years ago)

somebody look at this...I promise it'll be worth it

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 16:58 (nineteen years ago)

Does anybody on here still play this game? On PC (screenshots above) it's still pretty incredible & there are tons of mods available (for kits, stadiums, menus, high res graphics and widescreen fixes). They've also come up with some work arounds so you can still play the game online. This site http://www.pes6j.net/forum/ is the way to go. Lots of people on the European and South American servers, but unfortunately (for me) the US servers seem to usually be empty (I've only just set up the online, but have yet to grab a game). I think it's worth setting up and either getting into or getting back into. PC version is basically the same as the PS2 version (not the horrible 360 version), by my reckoning, things like proper widescreen support might make it the definitive version of PES. It's a very fun and balanced game - still more fun than any current generation soccer games. If anybody on here in North America has it set up or gets it set up, let's play some games! I think there are also some worldwide servers, lag would probbaly not be so good, but I'd be willing to try it out.

Mine got scratched so I got newer versions, but yeah it's my favourite football game.

May be half naked, but knows a good headline when he sees it (darraghmac), Friday, 4 June 2010 08:47 (sixteen years ago)

this is proper briliant on the playstation. I racked up a ridiculous amount of time on the xbox with it -because i didn't have a ps2/3- but yeah, this iteration was really night and day. A great version. Scored a few blinders with Nedved.

No disre but maryanne hobbs is peng trust me (jim in glasgow), Sunday, 6 June 2010 00:35 (sixteen years ago)
