S/D pinball games (photo thread)

One of my favourite quirks about the silver age of pinball, the 90s, was that some of the best games had the worst licenses. My three faves from that decade:

Argggh I fucked HATED that game! That mode where the magnet grabs your ball and floats it around, and then drops it right between the flippers! That's everything I hate about contemporary pinball right there! Reprehensible!

antexit (antexit), Friday, 23 September 2005 18:09 (twenty years ago)

i knew you'd say that. and i have only 4 words for you.

creepy.

kooky.

spooky.

ooky.

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 23 September 2005 18:15 (twenty years ago)

Well, that's cold comfort.

antexit (antexit), Friday, 23 September 2005 18:29 (twenty years ago)

That fan was quite refreshing after a few too many at the bar.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Friday, 23 September 2005 19:46 (twenty years ago)

There was a FAN? That's hilarious! Like the fan on the dashboard of a Studebaker.

antexit (antexit), Friday, 23 September 2005 19:50 (twenty years ago)

It only cranked up when you lit up a "twister", though.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Friday, 23 September 2005 21:30 (twenty years ago)

It was a rip-off though:

Star Wars Trilogy Pinball

Xenon. The girlbot on the console there would give you a sort of strip tease by having parts of her body flip around. I never got far enough to see her go all the way.

Machines like this are why geeks are afraid of girls, by the way.

This machine is why I'm afraid of space invaders.

gorgar says wait until I stop talking before inserting coins!

my dad for a while would find the really old ones, the ones that were like bingo/pachinko machines, without flippers, and recondition them. Great amazing circuitry in the back!

I AM GORGAR

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Saturday, 24 September 2005 00:33 (twenty years ago)

Or OMG how about this freaky, wonderful game, with its insane geek-bating audio?

Is she throwing a breast implant.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Sunday, 25 September 2005 16:19 (twenty years ago)

Whoa! I'd completely forgotten about Bride of Pinbot! They used to have it at our nearest Laserquest, and it was the highlight of going there.

melton mowbray (adr), Sunday, 25 September 2005 17:11 (twenty years ago)

I forgot about funhouse, which was at the local Chuck E. Cheese that I worked at as a teenager... even with a zillion free tokens, that damn thing refused to play nice. A real ripoff.
