i have never played one but i am gettin kinda interested in the idea these days, recently had Armageddon Empires recommended to me - so c'mon lets talk about 900 page manuals and discuss why all real time strategy is trash u cumdads

also those games used little cardboard counters, not miniatures. that was like this whole other level that I never encountered except at national conventions.

kingmaker was a+++ my dad had a copy of the computer version which is what i mostly played but i would def be into playing the board game version

panzer general is aight from what i remember but not as complex or fun as kingmaker. theres a panzer tactics games for the ds but ive never played it hmmm

It is not hex-based per se, but still the best turn-based WWII game ever. Battlefront.com also have TacOps, which is a hardcore modern hex-based game, based on US army training software and developed by an ex-officer in the US army. For the serious grognards.
