The Spurs were already well on their way to a 126-96 victory over Cleveland on Saturday night when Matt Bonner saw his chance.
To say he seized it would be not quite correct. Truth is, Tony Parker handed it to him.
Bonner and Parker arrived at a defensive rebound at the same moment, late in the second quarter of a game that had already become a laugher. Either player could have claimed the ball and started the fast break.
For some reason, Parker — the Spurs' All-Star point guard — backed off, and 18,581 fans at the AT&T Center were treated to about 1.2 seconds of “Magic Bonner.”
The Spurs' 6-foot-10 forward began dribbling upcourt. He raised one finger in the air, miming a play call (“an iso for me, obviously,” Bonner said). And then, in a blink, the dream was dead.
“I would have dribbled through everybody and dunked it,” Bonner said. “Unfortunately, Tony came back for the ball and ruined it. That was the end of my point-guard career.”

the blazers will definitely come back down to earth. they aren't the spurs. but they seem like a lock to avoid the lottery this year.
― Aimless, Sunday, 24 November 2013 18:52 (ten years ago) link
their point differential is nothing special for a team with such a great record. they're good but i don't think you could call them elite. there look to be only 3 l33t teams right now -- the heat, spurs, and pacers
― k3vin k., Sunday, 24 November 2013 18:59 (ten years ago) link
pretty funny how 2 of the 3 best teams in the league are in the east but then the rest of the top 15 are in the west

If he told the bucks they had to just forfeit the rest of their games and move to Seattle for next year I would forgive him for everything he's ever done wrong

Details aren't clear, but ESPN's source says Rose and the Bulls might opt to reattach the meniscus, which would keep him out four to six months.

from what i read this is p much the only reasonable option cause you can come back faster if you just remove it but then youre m/l fd long term

So very possible that Rose will heal up right around the playoffs and we can wring our hands in consternation all over again over whether or not he should play

ha yes

Didn't want to say anything because I have a soft spot for the Bulls and wanted them to do well / liked the Mike Dunleavy signing over the summer, but was secretly worried that bringing in DunJr. was gonna somehow kill their season, as he's never played for a winning team in his 11-year career (closest he came was w/ a 42-40 GSW team, who traded him to Indy mid-season).

It's so sad I think it is finally the end, almost certain he retires after this year
KG being toast is like the third biggest of Brooklyn's problems right now after having two injured main guys and a clueless coach (fourth that pierce isn't really in gear yet but I think that's temporary)

This. Haven't looked at his usage #s so far, but I'd assume that the Nets are being forced to use him at a far greater clip than they'd hoped to. Nets look like a mess but they're missing a ton of important pieces atm, so willing to give them a pass for a while. Same goes for Kidd, who is at least wearing his suit well on the sideline.

There's a small chance that the East could be _really_ ugly-- even though the Pacers have looked fantastic so far, they've had one of the easiest schedules. Next week they start a 10-game chunk that includes Clippers, Blazers, Spurs, OKC, Heat x 2, Pistons and Rockets. If they have any meltdown potential, that's probably when it'll come out.
Also shed a tear that the main leaders in all OFF/DEF stats seem to be normalized, have to wait another year for wacky leaderboards.
― Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Sunday, 24 November 2013 22:38 (ten years ago) link
yeah the pacers seem due for a lil regression easy sched plus some of their guys have been playing out of their minds george cant miss stevensons got two trip dubs, still v solid tho their defense obvs you cant f with, but the heat also are also lookin a lil suspicious, wade only plays sometime and bron cant shoot this well all year
