TRADE: Warriors get Jordan Crawford and MarShon Brooks. Celtics get Joel Anthony, 1st and 2nd round pick. Heat receive Toney Douglas.

did the dubs give up anything in this transaction

lag∞n, Wednesday, 15 January 2014 18:01 (ten years ago) link

gotta feel like eventually the celtics will roll some of those draft picks into a real player. they're bordering on too many picks if they're not already

Another note. In July, Heat tax bill was to be $33 million. After Mike Miller, Joel Anthony moves it is currently less than $10 million

yeah danny is from the acquire assets school, hes happy to make slight trade ups until he sees an opening, thats how they got kg

le goon (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 January 2014 18:05 (ten years ago) link

helps that ainge such a good drafter, the players he chooses are often worth more than they wouldve been as picks

lag∞n, Wednesday, 15 January 2014 18:05 (ten years ago) link

even like he picked up crawford for nothing and just spun him into two picks

2014 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Brooklyn will convey the less favorable of its 2014 1st round pick and Atlanta's 2014 1st round pick to Boston (via Atlanta's right to swap for Brooklyn) [Atlanta-Brooklyn, 7/11/2012 and then Boston-Brooklyn, 7/12/2013]

2015 first round draft pick from L.A. Clippers
L.A. Clippers' 2015 1st round pick to Boston [Boston-L.A. Clippers, 6/25/2013]

2015 second round draft pick from Sacramento
Sacramento's 2015 2nd round pick to Boston protected for selections 31-55 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Sacramento's obligation to Boston will be extinguished) [Boston-Sacramento, 2/17/2009]

2016 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Brooklyn's 2016 1st round pick to Boston [Boston-Brooklyn, 7/12/2013]

2017 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Boston has the right to swap its 2017 1st round pick for Brooklyn's 2017 1st round pick; if Boston exercises this swap right, then Boston will convey its 2017 2nd round pick to Brooklyn protected for selections 31-45 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Boston's obligation to Brooklyn will be extinguished) [Boston-Brooklyn, 7/12/2013]

2017 second round draft pick from Sacramento
Sacramento's 2017 2nd round pick to Boston protected for selections 31-55 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Sacramento's obligation to Boston will be extinguished) [Boston-Sacramento, 2/24/2011]

2018 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Brooklyn's 2018 1st round pick to Boston [Boston-Brooklyn, 7/12/2013]

this years brooklyn pick could easily be pretty sweet if atl didnt have the right to swap

lag∞n, Wednesday, 15 January 2014 18:12 (ten years ago) link

at the very least

le goon (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 January 2014 18:12 (ten years ago) link

lol brooklyn haggling over small time shit like this while getting totally fleeced

if Boston exercises this swap right, then Boston will convey its 2017 2nd round pick to Brooklyn protected for selections 31-45 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Boston's obligation to Brooklyn will be extinguished)

lag∞n, Wednesday, 15 January 2014 18:16 (ten years ago) link

are there rules governing draft pick protections & swapping or is it just whatever two teams agree on

le goon (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 January 2014 18:22 (ten years ago) link

i'm more or less baffled at lowe's bafflement here. it would have been much more surprising to me if this ridiculous team worked as constructed.

I'm suuuuuuper bummed about this and have spent time writing to management and adding comments to columns like: http://blogs.mercurynews.com/warriors/2014/03/26/jim-barnett-in-your-words/ but sounds like the decision is pretty much in stone.

Featured by Fast Break Warriors Fan Blog

This is a perfect time to express my thanks for the incredible support the Fast Break blog has given me during this personally strange season. My first thanks go of course to Adam. His continual support prior to this year has always been noticed and appreciated. And the unexpected column to #KeepJim and bring me out of retirement was a game changer. That's when the groundswell began with the overwhelming positive posts provided by you, the people who are the gatekeepers of the blog. Words cannot possibly due justice to express my personal appreciation for wanting me to return. Your generous and positive statements influenced me and the Warriors organization. We took another look at what might transpire and have simply put a hold on my hanging it up completely next year. Whatever arrangement that eventually unfolds will be one that we can all support and affirm.

I am happy with the outcome and I will certainly do my best to bring the best of the Warriors to you next year, in as many games as that will be. Eventually there has to be a change. I will want it and the organization will need it. That time will come about naturally to the benefit of all parties. And that includes you: the loyal and knowledgeable fans who write on this blog!

A final shout out to Chris L as his prose carried a strong message of support as well. I also had the pleasure of meeting him at a game recently. I wish I could meet more of you. There is so much more I would like to say.

Once again I am grateful to you contributors who came on here for the first time; the ones who had not posted here for some time; and you regulars whom I feel like I already know. (I don't read all comments as it sometimes becomes too much). There is so much to read elsewhere to try and keep up, and I do have a life beyond this wonderful game that has defined my life. But I certainly read Adam's and Chris's synopsis regularly.

Once again, thank you!

Jim Barnett
