pretty sure any one who's criticizing bron tonight for getting muscle cramps (as opposed to making some legit point about his play on court) is someone not worth listening to.
― Aimless, Friday, 6 June 2014 04:36 (ten years ago) link
srsly. like, ppl criticizing him are measuring bron against a mythological MJ/bird/magic/wilt/kareem hybrid who scored 40/game and walked to the arena through 4 feet of snow and just played harder when they were hurt or whatever.
― smooth hymnal (m bison), Friday, 6 June 2014 04:38 (ten years ago) link
According to Colin Cowherd, he is a mythological MJ/bird/magic/wilt/kareem hybrid.

nutty game; how the hell does a team have 23 turnovers and win by 15

― Clay, Friday, 6 June 2014 05:38 (ten years ago) link
im reading this "MJ, kobe, magic wouldve played" blah blah im like...lebron wanted to play, he just couldnt walk. kind of an important skill in basketball, p underrated aspect of the game

shooting 14-16 and 6-6 from three in the fourth quarter will do it
― le goon (J0rdan S.), Friday, 6 June 2014 11:55 (ten years ago) link
shd be noted miami had 18 turnovers of their own so it wasnt like the biggest disparity ever recorded

curious to see if the refs feel like they want to do anything abt the excess physicality
― lag∞n, Friday, 6 June 2014 12:50 (ten years ago) link
the game went to donkeytown with 4 minutes left and Bron out when it was Spurs by 2. I wouldn't put any stock into the final but the good news for the Spurs is that they played pretty horribly and still managed a win (sort of a lucky one, but still)
the hell with anyone criticizing LeBron for this, he played really well and cramps are no joke. how bout we focus on the fact that he hardly ever gets hurt like this even though he's played basically an entire season's worth of playoff games and unlike anyone on the Spurs he goes for 40+ minutes a night.

it's very strange that it keeps happening in the finals but yeah it's not like it's his fault or anything
― k3vin k., Friday, 6 June 2014 13:30 (ten years ago) link
it is kinda funny how it takes a non injury injury to take him out

some perspective from windhorst

"It was right in my wheelhouse," Ray Allen said.
"I don't care. I'm from Texas, man. We couldn't afford air conditioning in high school," Chris Bosh said.
"It reminded me of the days at Cameron Indoor at Duke before they got AC," Shane Battier said.
"It felt like I was playing in the European Championship. We never have AC in Europe so it didn't bother me at all," Tony Parker said.
lol windhorst playin both sides

i wonder what predisposes people to cramps, i used to get them a lot in my calves before i started running
― lag∞n, Friday, 6 June 2014 14:18 (ten years ago) link
but its not like i was strategically hydrating or anything
more like strategically dehydrating right folks turn up
wonder if brons massiveness has anything to do w his susceptibility to overheating
― lag∞n, Friday, 6 June 2014 14:19 (ten years ago) link
yeah it might just be bad luck of the draw, though of course getting cramps in warm arenas is a much better draw then arthritic knees or whatever
― le goon (J0rdan S.), Friday, 6 June 2014 14:21 (ten years ago) link
yeah considering he seems to be otherwise invulnerable
― lag∞n, Friday, 6 June 2014 14:27 (ten years ago) link
tho i def feel like weve seen the first signs of his physical decline this year, like sometimes he looks tired
― lag∞n, Friday, 6 June 2014 14:29 (ten years ago) link
he's still basically unstoppable even from an athletic standpoint on the offensive end but his one-on-one defense slipped this year for sure for whatever reason

― le goon (J0rdan S.), Friday, 6 June 2014 14:37 (ten years ago) link
his post game and three point shot have gotten better as he's aged, basically two things you need to hold onto as you get older

yup
― lag∞n, Friday, 6 June 2014 14:41 (ten years ago) link

welp http://deadspin.com/everything-you-know-about-cramps-is-wrong-and-gatorade-1587102837

The takeaway here, however, is that fatigue seems simply to cause cramps, without regard for hydration or Gatorade's secret sauce or preparation or anything other than your muscle being tired.
uh really? because when i recently had food poisoning and evacuated literally all the fluid in my body i was getting calf cramps while lying down motionless.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 7 June 2014 00:13 (ten years ago) link
im no doctor just a humble deadspin reader but it seems like maybe being poisoned could have something to do with it or is at the very least not ideal conditions for conducting a study
― lag∞n, Saturday, 7 June 2014 00:16 (ten years ago) link
also as with the deadspin piece why the calf muscles and not all the muscles it is a mystery
