http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/17/sports/basketball/its-nba-playoff-time-pay-no-attention-to-those-losing-records.htmlFun stats: In NBA history, only 11 teams with losing records have made the playoffs. All of them have lost in the first round. All of them have come from the Eastern Conference.

"Using the colloquial LA will resonate in a profound way with a younger demographic. Not only does this rule differentiate and elevate the clippers from other Los Angeles sports franchises, it empowers the LAC design element with a verbal communication standard"

I live in this world and I do my honest to god best to be as blunt and straight forward as possible in our presentations. Fluff is the worst. Luckily I work for people that would laugh at me if I tried to pull some nonsense like that.

I guess now's a good time to mention that back in July when I was hootin' and hollerin' about LeBron coming back, I happened to be in Vegas and I put a huge wager on the Cavs winning the NBA Finals at 25:1. I really hope they don't let me down.

I hate the way a lot of 538 articles contain stats and observations about those stats with no regard for immediate context. Never get a sense that these people are talking about something they've actually watched.

I would definitely hedge your bet at some point snrub, at least in the finals
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 17 April 2015 19:14 (nine years ago) link
xpNah there's always context and the stats and observations are largely informed by what they choose to ignore/include.
Using single-season stats as a basis for these predictions when a lot of rosters change drastically half way through doesn't seem sensible to me.
The Nets may have been the worst team to make the playoffs looking at the season as a whole but that fact that they've recently improved with Lopez healthy and finished the season 13-6 isn't reflected in that.
