logo branding copy is secretly some of the lamest shit of all time

"Using the colloquial LA will resonate in a profound way with a younger demographic. Not only does this rule differentiate and elevate the clippers from other Los Angeles sports franchises, it empowers the LAC design element with a verbal communication standard"

I live in this world and I do my honest to god best to be as blunt and straight forward as possible in our presentations. Fluff is the worst. Luckily I work for people that would laugh at me if I tried to pull some nonsense like that.

Sounds like a proactive and synergistic place to work, Spottie.

A-Hanisi Coates (Leee), Friday, 17 April 2015 17:38 (nine years ago) link

PS if Lebron had gone to the GSWs, they'd have been even more mortal locks for the finals, but he took the coward's way out instead.

A-Hanisi Coates (Leee), Friday, 17 April 2015 17:39 (nine years ago) link

wldve been the best team ever

probably my fave thing about ilh other than the great posters is the digressive nature, and I will endlessly encourage it sorry kev.

my friend found 3.2:1 odds for the cavs title chances. i'm looking at where the lines are now and i don't really love any of them

k3vin k., Friday, 17 April 2015 18:15 (nine years ago) link

bovada sez both them and golden state have 11/5 odds

slothroprhymes, Friday, 17 April 2015 18:19 (nine years ago) link

I guess now's a good time to mention that back in July when I was hootin' and hollerin' about LeBron coming back, I happened to be in Vegas and I put a huge wager on the Cavs winning the NBA Finals at 25:1. I really hope they don't let me down.

Mr. Snrub, Friday, 17 April 2015 18:20 (nine years ago) link

(i dont know shit about gambling thats just the first sports book that came up in google)

I hate the way a lot of 538 articles contain stats and observations about those stats with no regard for immediate context. Never get a sense that these people are talking about something they've actually watched.

tsrobodo, Friday, 17 April 2015 18:42 (nine years ago) link

good luck, snrub

johnny crunch, Friday, 17 April 2015 18:44 (nine years ago) link

yeah i mean thats kinda the whole point of their approach xp bring yr own context lol

lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 18:50 (nine years ago) link

I would definitely hedge your bet at some point snrub, at least in the finals

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 17 April 2015 19:14 (nine years ago) link

xp
Nah there's always context and the stats and observations are largely informed by what they choose to ignore/include.

Using single-season stats as a basis for these predictions when a lot of rosters change drastically half way through doesn't seem sensible to me.

The Nets may have been the worst team to make the playoffs looking at the season as a whole but that fact that they've recently improved with Lopez healthy and finished the season 13-6 isn't reflected in that.

tsrobodo, Friday, 17 April 2015 19:34 (nine years ago) link

Biggest news out of NBA owners meeting: Back-to-backs and four games in five days will be reduced; league will extend season by a week.

Clay, Friday, 17 April 2015 19:35 (nine years ago) link

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Saturday, 18 April 2015 00:01 (nine years ago) link

The Warriors are going to have a dogfight getting out of the west, but if they can get past the WCF, they should be able to knock off the east champion, be it the Hawks, Cavs or Bulls. I picked them to go the whole way, but realistically the Spurs are going to be tough to dethrone and it was hard to pick against them.
