re shannon brown - the complete collapse of the lakers pg rotation has been pretty much swept under the rug by their dominant season but damn inserting a scrub like that so late in the year on a team this good where it not an injury issue is unheard o -. i can understand fisher declining cause of his age but wtf happened happened to farmar he looked like he was ready to make major progress this year

ice cr?m, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 12:33 (fifteen years ago) link

and everyone hating on boozer hes a flawed player sure and def still slow coming back from injury but hes 27-9 20-10 so far this series - i mean the jazz got issues and boozer isnt near the top of the list

ice cr?m, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 12:36 (fifteen years ago) link

Brown is kind of the prototypical Jackson PG though (he's never loved those quick little guards.) We'll see Farmer (who has been hurt) more when the Lakers face Paul or Parker, I'm guessing.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 12:39 (fifteen years ago) link

in the same way that someone will see that boozer has two post moves and throw 6 years at him even if it's 8-9 mil instead of 12-13 per this time

i mean this is just ignorant - cbooze scores from everywhere and is completely ambidextrous around the basket - he is vv hard to defend

his big problem is that he cant stay healthy - that and his defense sucks - needs to be paired w/a big stopper @ center

ice cr?m, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 12:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Those are pretty big problems. Still I don't think Utah'll be better if he leaves this off-season.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 12:44 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah the health thing would be deal breaker for me if i was thinking of signing him - defense can be worked with

anyway thte jazz major problems at the moment imo

1 theyre playing the lakers
2 okur is out and jarron collins is starting
3 so many injuries this season they never got a chance to jell

ice cr?m, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 12:47 (fifteen years ago) link

All very true.

Lakers almost seem like they are sleep-walking through these games at points.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 12:49 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah both games the got out to big leads then coasted the rest of the way - a sure sign theyve got no respect for the jazz

ice cr?m, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 12:51 (fifteen years ago) link

btw huge game for roy - portland looked much more like a normal basketball team than usual w/two guys playing big minutes and scoring more of the points - houston on the other hand is a weird ass team - von wafer and aaron brooks leading the scoring in a close playoff game ehhhh

ice cr?m, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 12:57 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah i've seen a decent amount of houston this year and they are a weird weird team. almost hard to predict how they'd do in the playoffs but i'd err on the side of pessimism.

i mean that 2 post moves is still 2 more than just about anyone not named tim/kg/yao...he definitely is a good shooter and i always forget that he's good with the off hand too until i see him lay it up. at some point tho the injury thing just has to be a real part of the calculation and could boozer really be the #2 on a championship team? seems like a great #3 to me maybe, esp given his defense

schrödinger's googler (agent hibachi), Wednesday, 22 April 2009 21:23 (fifteen years ago) link

when the playoffs started i decided that houston was gonna win it all this year but the mumboless rockets... d*mn. i just dont know anymore

i love dikembe. i remember when he burst onto the scene the dude looked like he would be a big scorer but instead ended up being a sick, sick defender and a guy who simply held his own offensively against every other center of his prime era. probably a HOFer, right?

macarooni (omar little), Wednesday, 22 April 2009 22:20 (fifteen years ago) link

I'd say it's likely. 4-time defensive play of the year. 8-time all-star. plus his georgetown career and his humanitarian/outreach efforts.

So uh I haven't watched a Philly game all year. . . this was a .500 team, right? What the heck is going on with Orlando?

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 23:27 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah, but they seem like a team that played poorly due more to youth/injuries than a lack of talent.

I just assumed that with Brand hurt for the entire year they were just so-so. Basketball Prospectus thinks Iguodala is very unsung btw http://www.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=649

Yeah I didn't realize that either til recently - kinda ironic that this will be his first postseason with the Sixers.

Er wait, cross out what I just said.

DJ Khaled El-Amin (dyao), Thursday, 23 April 2009 01:28 (fifteen years ago) link

ha yeah i think he was on the finals team

ice cr?m, Thursday, 23 April 2009 01:28 (fifteen years ago) link

Hah, no, that was what got me confused - my biggest memory of Theo Ratliff is him being an integral part of the 00-01 Sixers team, then getting traded at the break for MUUUUUTOOOOMBO so that the Sixers could deal with Shaq.

I forgot that he was also a part of the previous two Sixers teams who got walked all over by the Pacers.

He has completely dominated smaller faster pgs in the past, but yeah this is a bit of a shock. Does Billups have like the weirdest career arc ever?
