as NBA fans in 2016 we should all be in agreement on this one

baseball and hoops have the best most entertaining players, NFL has some guys.

the only excuse any ILHers have is that they are patritos fans since they are still dominant and have one of two actual superstars in the league + gronk

i dont really "care" but football is objectively a better game to be a casual fan of than baseball

baseball is no good unless you know what pitches diff pitchers have and so forth, i used to have that level of knowledge and it was good now i dont know who the players are and its bad, where as football theres really nothing required to understand that a sick leaping touchdown catch is awesome

i think that's true but it's an argument in baseball's favor imo xp

basically unless youre really dialed in on the pitcher-batter matchup baseball is a sport where nothing much happens most of the time

biggest prob w baseball (also a prob w football but not as bad) is that you have to invest too much time to just watch one game. playoffs average has got to be 4+ hours a game.

ya like 95% of baseball is *batter steps out of box kicks the dirt adjusts his junk spits takes a couple swings steps back in pitcher leans squints waves off pitch batter decides this is taking too long steps out of box etc*

baseball was the most perplexing north american sport to get into when i moved here, but it's now my favorite. nfl was the easiest to follow and enjoy immediately, but it's been diminishing returns

my wife sent me an article that said a baseball game contains only 18 minutes of actual shit happening. the rest is standing around.

football is 11 min iirc

i don't really have a stake here but the "minutes of action" thing is so incredibly inane.

alt theory - the reason why basketball is so #1 is the guarantee of (at least) 48 mins of action every game

they all complement each other very well imo.

nba players also allowed to have fun and even encouraged to showcase their personalities. plus they don't wear helmets/hats so everyone knows what they look like.

observation: kawhi leonard is a better offensive player than last year

love dewayne dedmon. he's an athletic C who blocks shots and rebounds and is doing a nice DAJ impression. manu is finding him for all kinds of easy looks. 1Q numbers: 4-4 for 8 pts, 2 oreb, 2 blocks.

ya i was skeptical of his mvp contender status but if he can create offense like he did in that first game its legit xp

also the spurs starting 5 is gonna need some tweaking. the bench just looks so much more cohesive and dynamic, more ball movement, slashing, fast breaks, 3 pt shooting. pau+lma cant really play long minutes together. kawhi is p much the only starter with legs (tho kyle anderson will not start when danny green comes back from injury).

i know he's no one's idea of a strong defender, but im impressed with david lee's contributions so far. he's still quick on his feet and gives the spurs a guy who can board and shoot and pass well. he's not as creative as boris, but he's already an upgrade over david west.

he worked with kobe this summer and it shows. some of the looks he's creating for himself have been ridiculously kobe-esque

like if he's averaging close to 25, 8 and still defending at a crazy level and the spurs are winning a shitload of games, its def a good chance for him to win it

spurs offense is p good, defense is trashhhhhhh right now. but this mills-ginobili-juice-lee-dedmon lineup is fun.

went to the game tonight, had been thinking that the hawks were maybe sneakily blowing it up as much as they could get away w/ in this market but idk, there may be a philosophy at work. when dwight first went to the line i muttered 'well, here we go', haven't felt that much of a combination of fraught tension and gooey emotional support since late 90s cat power shows. have to say though the rebounding was definitely refreshing, took some real getting used to. definitely felt weird w/o teague or horford, and there were some very weirdly sloppy moments, dudes clearly not in rhythm yet. already love deandre bembry; he barely played, just a few minutes in garbage time w/ the wiz bench of 'who is this white guy' were in, but he was standing up the whole game, just barking at the players when the ball was on that end of the court, you could tell dude was very happy to be in the nba, at his first game, and him and dennis and kent were clearly already bros. gucci mane was there.

also idk how much of this is confirmation bias but got weird vibes from the wiz, like john wall seemed pissy the whole night, i kept thinking 'dude you have 81 more of these'.
