i can accept the argument that a team with that much future nba talent should have been better overall, but it never really came together with any consistency, perhaps because the freshmen got late starts due to injuries, perhaps because k's short-bench instincts never let giles or bolden emerge. wonder if bolden will transfer.

(i also think that playing four games in four days the previous weekend wasn't helpful, but hey, michigan managed okay.)

having an experienced team is an asset, but i don't think roy goes recruiting with the idea that he wants someone good, but not so good he'll leave after only a year or two. no one turns down talent, even if it results in the relatively crappy defense duke has played lately

fsu had 2 likely 1st rounders & lots of other talent and got washed by xavier

I need to memorialize this for posterity (it is also really difficult to search online for), so bc the ncaa is too cheap or just doesn't want to deal w arranging halftime shows at these games, this year they did a shooting competition where I think a non athlete student from or somehow related to each school had 60-seconds to get as many pts as possible - scoring was 1 pt for layups (but you couldn't take them consecutively), 3 for free throws, 5 for 3 pts and 10 for halfcourt makes; it was run at all sights and you were competing against all other participants, top scorer for each round 1 and round 2 got $500 and a chance to be entered to win a trip to the final 4 (or something like that)

the Wichita contestant confidently ran right to a corner three pt shot and started hoisting, airballed AT LEAST ten in a row, but stubbornly would not move off that shot and ended w/ 6 points

the UK contestant confidently went to the top of the key 3 pt shot and started hoisting -- he made 16 3s in 60 seconds!! 80 points, it was impressive as hell; nb the previous highest point total we saw was 39 pts from the sacramento site

johnny crunch, Friday, 24 March 2017 01:02 (seven years ago) link

The Ducks would need to make a lot more of their shots to beat Kansas.

ucla-kentucky game is off the chain

J0rdan S., Saturday, 25 March 2017 02:42 (seven years ago) link

UCLA is one of the most NBA looking offenses i've ever seen in college

J0rdan S., Saturday, 25 March 2017 02:43 (seven years ago) link

and i love watching de'aaron fox, he's one of the most athletic guards i've ever seen. i think monk has been rated ahead of him for the draft but lately fox has been playing like the second coming of john wall or something.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 25 March 2017 02:44 (seven years ago) link

lonzo is a sneaky good athlete and really good finisher but i think he's having trouble getting what he normally gets vs kentucky's kinda athleticism

J0rdan S., Saturday, 25 March 2017 02:46 (seven years ago) link

ya imo there are major question marks abt what balls gonna do in the nba when he doesnt have an overwhelming athletic advantage

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 March 2017 02:55 (seven years ago) link

de'aaron

J0rdan S., Saturday, 25 March 2017 03:04 (seven years ago) link

J0rdan S., Saturday, 25 March 2017 03:07 (seven years ago) link

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 March 2017 03:12 (seven years ago) link

J0rdan S., Saturday, 25 March 2017 04:53 (seven years ago) link

that was sick

k3vin k., Saturday, 25 March 2017 05:09 (seven years ago) link

that shot was amazing

johnny crunch, Saturday, 25 March 2017 05:30 (seven years ago) link

Both the shot to go to ot and the game winner were so good. Game of the tourney easily. So many reverse layups!

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Saturday, 25 March 2017 07:00 (seven years ago) link

frogbs, Saturday, 25 March 2017 12:45 (seven years ago) link

Three SEC teams made the Elite Eight, but two west coast teams are already in the Final Four. Go ducks!
