this seems like a bit of a mismatch in terms of where the knicks are as a team but for all of thibs flaws, the t wolves have made the playoffs once in the last 16 years and it's when thibs was coaching. if jimmy butler hadn't gotten hurt that year and tanked their seeding they may have even won a round. i also think the knicks prob need a coach who brings some inherent power into the building, bcuz putting an up and coming coach like fizdale in that situation is a recipe for disaster. if the worst that happens is thibs gets to runs some young players into the ground over the course of 5 years the knicks will prob at least make it back to the playoffs once or twice

that being said, their roster is bottom 3 in the league and their new GM is an agent, so like.......................

i saw they were interviewing other teams assistants and stuff tho and while i'm sure that's a normal information gathering process for a franchise on a macro level, putting an non-established coach in that franchise just isn't tenable imo. and once you start going thru free agent coaches thibs is as good a choice as any prob

this is an inside job by the CAA crew, it could work or not work (prob not) but that's what it is.

for sure. i think that gives it a better chance of success bcuz the front office and coaching staff won't be at odds and thus can't be leveraged against each other by ownership. we won't see leon rose giving a hasty press conference 10 games that leaves the coach out to dry. i mean, again, probably... lol. my doubts are with leon rose taking a team whose best current "assets" are rj barrett, mitchell robinson, kevin knox, and frank ntilikina and turning it into a competitive roster in the next 3 seasons.

Nah, we're good. Simmons much better than Brown and Hayward not really moving the needle enough.

I would definitely do Horford for Hayward straight up, but I doubt Celts would be interested.

simmons is certainly not currently not better than brown and hayward, if you play him at center he prob would be except you have embiid, so you need to trade one of them, also this is an opportunity to get out from under that horford contract

wld be interested to see what philly can get for either of those guys

Sorry, I was confusing. I meant that Simmons is better than Brown straight up. Hayward might be better than Horford at this point, but not enough to make me want to trade Simmons.

I would probably trade Embiid before I traded Simmons. Simmons wants to be better and has worked on his game in subtle ways (not saying he doesn't need to work on some not so subtle things as well). Embiid is great, but is immature. I'm not sure he actually likes basketball.

even with all his flaws i suspect a number of teams wld be willing to open the vault for him

I think I suggested trading Embiid for McCollum + pick(s) at the end of last year. Not sure I would do it at this point, but would be interesting.

I really like McCollum. He's gotten better every year.

i like him but not sure he has what it takes to be a playoff first option just cause hes already a difficult shot maker in the regular season and a lot of those looks could get really tough in the offs, and hes a defensive liability and doesnt have great positional flexibility, like id much rather have jaylen brown whos not nearly the creator cj is but is a great defender can play multiple positions is younger and his offensive game stays solid in the offs and is improving, brown prob fits better with embiid than simmons tho since embiid can carry more offensive load

kinda doubt the celtics are looking to trade him at all tho

cj also doesn't rebound or pass or get to the line. he's a nice player and does one important thing really well but i'm not a huge fan.

a fair trade for embiid would be like... bradley beal, devin booker, or donovan mitchell. and you'd prob have to throw some other stuff in. beal is the only name there that makes sense.

idk the fit is bad and theres def been a drop in perceived value for both of those guys which is prob ongoing, but i dont pretend to know whats going on in the orgs head

like they already switched simmons position midseason what if that doesnt work, plus getting multiple players back has to look pretty good, i do think it would take a lot but someone could offer a lot
