both teams are full of supporting players that i either am sick of or actively dislike

this is my issue too i suppose. and if the nuggs somehow get by i just don't see them being seasoned enough to not get shredded by the lakers which would be EXTREMELY unfun to watch.

i don’t think masai was that concerned with whether the raptors were title contenders again... this was prob close to an ideal outcome

J0rdan S., Saturday, 12 September 2020 23:48 (three years ago) link

if you can’t get into lebron vs kawhi idk man. every lakers/clippers game this season has been played at a very high level. those teams don’t like each other and when they go all out it’s some of the best basketball the NBA has to offer. mature skilled professional players stepping on the gas pedal all game. i want it.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 12 September 2020 23:51 (three years ago) link

it’s interesting that we actually got deeply contrasting series. east finals should be very very high level team basketball (offense and defense). west finals is a star power legacy narrative storyline buffet.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 12 September 2020 23:53 (three years ago) link

yeah you want different stuff out of basketball than i do

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Sunday, 13 September 2020 00:05 (three years ago) link

what i want out of basketball is for the ball to suddenly get really big so it doesn't fit in the hoop. been watching for 20 years and it still hasn't happened but the games have been pretty good in the meantime

Pat Riley should've done whatever it took to get Russ, giving up Bam and/or Winslow and/or Herro. Russ would've made Miami relevant again and at least given them a chance in the Least.

rip morey rip mike dan tony rip not having a center

Clay, Sunday, 13 September 2020 02:17 (three years ago) link

xp sorry, skip made some really shitty comments about the cowboys qb this week and i just think we should excise him entirely

call all destroyer, Sunday, 13 September 2020 02:17 (three years ago) link

i am fine with clowning on skip but afaict his hustle is saying the absolutely most clownable thing and getting so clowned for it that it's like inversely bankable to keep him around and i'm not sure it's to be encouraged

Clay, Sunday, 13 September 2020 02:19 (three years ago) link

Told yall the lakers were gonna eat the rockets

otm. i am duty bound to hate both LA teams obviously but if you love the nba and want to see the best go at it on the biggest stage then this is an A+ matchup. feels like a finals matchup tbh.

having said that. hope the nuggs win tomorrow and this thing goes 7 baby.

Spottie, Sunday, 13 September 2020 04:23 (three years ago) link

you know what they say about the nuggets

ciderpress, Sunday, 13 September 2020 14:01 (three years ago) link

i heard from a source that theyre winning the nba playoffs

methinks dababy doth bop shit too much (m bison), Sunday, 13 September 2020 14:07 (three years ago) link

Nuggets could absolutely have won this series already. If Murray gets on track for a couple games...

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 15:57 (three years ago) link

yeah... for sure......

J0rdan S., Sunday, 13 September 2020 16:44 (three years ago) link

I definitely think we need to retire the “can a Jokic team win in the playoffs thing.” This team isn’t that far away from contending and all the stuff works

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 17:37 (three years ago) link

Having a 7 foot point guard is good

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 17:38 (three years ago) link

i don’t think they’re that close to contending

J0rdan S., Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:00 (three years ago) link

maybe once lebron and kawhi get out of their conference. so... 2025?

J0rdan S., Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:02 (three years ago) link

Gary Harris just got 3 steals in 30 seconds

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:05 (three years ago) link

Jord they’re going toe to toe with the clippers in 2020, they’re not far away.

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:07 (three years ago) link

I could see the lakers improving, but the average age of the nuggets core is 24 and they’re knocking on the door already

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:11 (three years ago) link

Would Kawhi be the GOAT with healthy knees, seems possible

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:16 (three years ago) link

imo denver should consider trading for giannis if they want to make that leap

methinks dababy doth bop shit too much (m bison), Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:16 (three years ago) link

kawhi would be top 10 for sure, i wouldnt say GOAT

methinks dababy doth bop shit too much (m bison), Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:16 (three years ago) link

Can’t they just wait out giannis’ contract and sign him as a free agent for the vet minimum?

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:19 (three years ago) link

giannis for milsap straight up

lag∞n, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:20 (three years ago) link

Kawhi will be top 10 even if he retires in 4 years, it seems. Like how many times does he have to be the best player in the playoffs before you give him that

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:20 (three years ago) link

i still think theres something to be said for longevity and career production.

to answer your questions idk like 3 times?

methinks dababy doth bop shit too much (m bison), Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:25 (three years ago) link

the nuggets have such a deep roster you'd think they could make a trade that would slightly strengthen their main rotation at the cost of a slightly weaker bench.

the average age of the nuggets core is 24

as usual, the problem becomes nailing down your young players to a minor market team in the age of free agency, without overpaying, so that your core can stay together long enough to be rock solid.

He’s done it three times already!!!!

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:26 (three years ago) link

i promise im not being a bitter spurs fan when i say that he's given far too much individual credit for the 2014 spurs team. he was probably peak in 2017 then got zaza'd. then he's the best in 2019. that's not enough to call him top 10 all-time.

Jokic is signed until 2023, murray 2025, porter hasn’t even finished his rookie deal

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:27 (three years ago) link

Big thing is that it seems maxing Murray will work out, that was a big question mark to me long term

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:29 (three years ago) link

Michael Porter Jr appears to be Kevin Durant with a 91 IQ and frankly I’m excited about it

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:31 (three years ago) link

i think the competitiveness of this series is in the eyes of the beholder. the nuggets have shown well but at no point has the clippers spot in the west finals felt threatened to me.

J0rdan S., Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:35 (three years ago) link

The clippers have played every game the same way, there’s no extra gear that they shifted into when the nuggets made it close

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:37 (three years ago) link

Nuggets have been a top 3 seed in the west for 2 straight years, have a very intriguing rookie. The future is bright!

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:40 (three years ago) link

i like the nugs roster but they cld stand to get a lil more athletic and physical imo

lag∞n, Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:45 (three years ago) link

a 4-2 series loss w/ a 10+ point margin in the close out game... again the nuggets had a nice series but we don’t need to lie to ourselves about what the outcome of this series is and was always going to be

if you want to argue that they’re set up to be in the finals mix in the next era of the west whenever bron and kawhi cycle out i think that’s totally fair. i would take the mavs and feel pretty good about it but denver is in the discussion. they’re gonna need a good bit more to win back to back series against teams of the clippers and lakers level tho and nothing that has happened in this series makes me think otherwise

J0rdan S., Sunday, 13 September 2020 18:46 (three years ago) link

im more bullish on denver than dallas simply bc they have a core of players (jokic, murray, and mpj) as opposed to one phenom. i dont know how dallas creates that with the assets they have now. they dont typically draft/develop well and don't have a lot of guys with high trade value.
