lag∞n, Thursday, 28 January 2021 23:44 (three years ago) link

is there an ILH backstory about this katy perry song?

a nice controlled drift (Spottie), Thursday, 28 January 2021 23:44 (three years ago) link

it’s hard to train my brain that a team in these baby blues is not Sacramento and considering the way the rockets are playing they might as well be the kings

Clay, Friday, 29 January 2021 01:08 (three years ago) link

yall its the old oilers colors its fine

heat & clippers facing off tonight w/ kawahi, PG, pat bev, butler, dragic all sitting (TNT dropped the game earlier this week for blazers-rockets)

J0rdan S., Friday, 29 January 2021 01:53 (three years ago) link

what’s goin on with the heat

k3vin k., Friday, 29 January 2021 03:56 (three years ago) link

Jimmy Butler has lost 12 pounds... is this a lost season for them?

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 29 January 2021 04:08 (three years ago) link

i think there's some regular regression and then a whole lot of bad luck on top of that

call all destroyer, Friday, 29 January 2021 04:11 (three years ago) link

if the heat get the #1 pick in 2021, jesus

trans-panda express (m bison), Friday, 29 January 2021 04:23 (three years ago) link

heat seem pretty stuck in no mans land in the short-medium term, obv last year was some good luck and now their dudes r old

k3vin k., Friday, 29 January 2021 04:25 (three years ago) link

i think they’ve played like 5 games all season with a full roster... they were without jimmy, hero & avery bradley for like 2 weeks, herro came back tonight but now dragic is hurt. it’s been a pretty bad run of luck even starting w game 1 when jimmy sprained his ankle

even after tonight they’re only 1.5 games out of the playoffs and 3.5 games out of the fifth seed... it’s still the east so it’s premature to call it a lost season. they will prob lose in the first round but that was a possibility even if they had stayed fully healthy, the top end of the east has gotten much stronger from last season, lots of bunched up teams & only two can get to the conference finals, there’s gonna be several disappointed fan bases when it’s all said and done. it’s clear the heat need more firepower regardless now with how the conference looks which i posted about the other day vis a vis them and oladipo, it kinda depends on how much they’re prioritizing this season vs the next few

not really they have as much cap room as anyone in the league and the only older guy they’re committed to beyond this season is jimmy. bam is looking like the third best center in the league and is 23. their main issue is that their ability to trade picks is a bit jammed up but they’re going to be able to reshape the team pretty severely this offseason

J0rdan S., Friday, 29 January 2021 04:33 (three years ago) link

hmm no i think kevin is right they should blow it up trade bam to the celtics for carsen edwards

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 04:36 (three years ago) link

i mostly wonder if the heat are just burned out from the bubble... they had a harder road than the lakers especially by the finals when they were broken down and... playing the lakers. they have just looked kinda raggedy and out of it all season

― trans-panda express (m bison), Friday, 29 January 2021 3:23 PM

their pick is owned by okc haha

micah, Friday, 29 January 2021 04:44 (three years ago) link

i have said this before but anything that happened in the bubble should probably just be excluded from analysis going forward.

call all destroyer, Friday, 29 January 2021 04:45 (three years ago) link

xp i didnt believe you but its true! altho it looks top 4 protected?

okc's insane run of picks begins this year. potentially 3 1st rounders, tho its feasible that GS won't have to trade theirs bc it's top 20 protected.

this is fair their cap situation could help them, I think as you said their struggles this year health or not were forseeable but they have a couple of nice young pieces

k3vin k., Friday, 29 January 2021 04:54 (three years ago) link

have to admit jimmy is a guy I've underrated his whole career, just could not get a hold on his value with the injuries and drama shit but clearly when locked in he's a top 15 player

k3vin k., Friday, 29 January 2021 05:03 (three years ago) link

i’m not sure i would go this far... when the playoffs start i’m still gonna believe that bron/AD are the most unbeatable combo in the league and that requires the proof of concept that was the bubble playoffs. i’m still gonna wonder if PG is going to wilt and thus the clippers are going to crumble.

i think the more pertinent issue as it pertains to the east is that the nets, sixers, and bucks overhauled their rosters in ways that makes it very hard to know how the playoffs on that side are going to play out

J0rdan S., Friday, 29 January 2021 05:28 (three years ago) link

think the nets very clearly are gonna win the east, on account of having the best players

k3vin k., Friday, 29 January 2021 05:43 (three years ago) link

i wouldn’t say very clearly but i would call them the heavy favorites, which, given that they mortgaged like 8 seasons worth of past and future drafts in that trade, they oughta be

J0rdan S., Friday, 29 January 2021 05:56 (three years ago) link

right haha

k3vin k., Friday, 29 January 2021 05:58 (three years ago) link

historically its been hard to win in the playoffs with dogshit defense

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 12:14 (three years ago) link

Embiid is playing so well right now and is not getting any younger I kind of think the Sixers if healthy at the deadline should be all-in on the next 3 years, meaning trade young guys and picks if you need to. They need another scorer. In another 3-5 years they probably will need to process again.

The only thing giving me pause is the East suddenly has a couple of tough teams in Brooklyn, Mil, and Bos, though all are flawed (as are the Sixers). Based on names alone you have to think the Nets are the favs.

Smokahontas and John Spliff (PBKR), Friday, 29 January 2021 12:50 (three years ago) link

PBKR how do u feel abt demar derozan on the sixers bc i bet u cd get him if you rly wanted

trans-panda express (m bison), Friday, 29 January 2021 13:31 (three years ago) link

His contract is up after this season?

I guess he would put one of Danny Green/Seth Curry on the bench, but he doesn't shoot 3s so I'm not sure he is what they are looking for. Maybe?

Smokahontas and John Spliff (PBKR), Friday, 29 January 2021 13:45 (three years ago) link

ah but it’s 2021 and he’s now a 35% 3 pt shooter tyvm

trans-panda express (m bison), Friday, 29 January 2021 14:14 (three years ago) link

Well that changes everything ;)

Smokahontas and John Spliff (PBKR), Friday, 29 January 2021 14:36 (three years ago) link

Draymond Green is currently shooting 35/23/67

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:12 (three years ago) link

is that good

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:15 (three years ago) link

Pretty bad imo. Also averaging .1 blocks per game which makes wonder about the whole athleticism deal

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:19 (three years ago) link

His rebounds are also way down. No reporting on it yet... but I’m starting to worry. Could be the rona effects.

Oubre is 36/22/77 which is much worse cos the dubs need his scoring so badly.

a nice controlled drift (Spottie), Friday, 29 January 2021 15:25 (three years ago) link

also gets harder to keep yrslef revved up and locked in at extreme draymond levels especially when the team isnt that good

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:26 (three years ago) link

sorry for an idiot like me what are represented by the numbers in those slashlines

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Friday, 29 January 2021 15:27 (three years ago) link

field goal percentage / three point percentage / free throw percentage

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:28 (three years ago) link

Oubre was 1/11 in his revenge game last night vs the suns missing half their roster idgi I thought it was the whole being extorted by his x for 3 million but he’s only had like 2 good games since that story broke

a nice controlled drift (Spottie), Friday, 29 January 2021 15:28 (three years ago) link

lol what missed that one

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:29 (three years ago) link

Tracer. 50/40/90 is the ideal benchmark that only gets hit maybe by like one player for a season.

Average across nba is 46/36/76 or so

a nice controlled drift (Spottie), Friday, 29 January 2021 15:32 (three years ago) link

thanks! have never drilled into these stats. baseball stats i know by feel - tenths of a percentage point will make a difference - but this stuff i never really think about in this way

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Friday, 29 January 2021 15:43 (three years ago) link

i guess i do remember the great FT shooters hovering around 90% - that's one i do know

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Friday, 29 January 2021 15:43 (three years ago) link

yeah 40% from 3 is kind of a talisman, tho obvs how you get those shots/how many you take matters a lot too

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:56 (three years ago) link

apparently jaylen brown is hitting 57% of his midrange jumpers, which he is taking twice as many of

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Friday, 29 January 2021 16:54 (three years ago) link

yeah saw that, almost surely unsustainable, but that doesnt mean he cant hit them at a good rate like 45-50%, cause he def is generating good looks

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 17:10 (three years ago) link

as for the extra attempts from that range, his scorings gone from 20 last year to 27 this, gonna be hard to make that jump while keeping yr shot distro to only the finest shots

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 17:17 (three years ago) link

tho all this is prob somewhat academic cause with kemba and jayson back theres gonna be fewer shots to go around and he can be more judicious

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 17:18 (three years ago) link

whether that trio ever really figures out how to play together idk yikes, wld be cool if kemba could be more of a distributor but his game is really about just going balls out and idk if it will work for him to try to do something different, they can obvs stagger their minutes but in crunch time you want them to be working well together, which over a year into their relationship, tho really not many total games due to many injuries, they still have no idea how to do, theyre kinda all iso players

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 17:22 (three years ago) link

crunch time in that last game was ugly as hell

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 17:24 (three years ago) link

lol in NBA2K the canned commentary always says, when referring to boston's opponents, "they're going to try to make kemba shoot the ball instead of be a creator, they think that's the key to containing what he brings to this offense" which is like the opposite of what you're saying (and i think what you're saying is right, from what i've seen of this season)

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Friday, 29 January 2021 17:27 (three years ago) link

lol yeah get it together video game guys
