siakam is a better player, i should say this while i still can.

lol
― lag∞n, Monday, 28 June 2021 18:31 (three years ago) link
i feel like that trade would make sense for both sides. the ceiling on siakam is higher than wiggins and the warriors should probably be pushing for it. it's possible they could be selling high on wiseman + 7th pick also, there's a legitimate chance that neither of those players produce much value in the end. if the warriors didn't wanna give up wiggins or the raptors didn't want him they could sign and trade oubre, wiseman's cap number is actually pretty high you only need an extra $20 million to equal siakam
― J0rdan S., Monday, 28 June 2021 18:37 (three years ago) link
the recent history of 7th overall picks: killian hayes, coby white, wendell carter jr, lauri markannen, jamal murray, emmanuel mudiay, julius randle, ben mclemore, harrison barnes, bismack biyombo, greg monroe. seems like it might be a good one for the warriors to cash in
― J0rdan S., Monday, 28 June 2021 18:39 (three years ago) link
they absolutely should. if that partic deal happens i just hope siakams shoulder is good.
― pure rim rest (Spottie), Monday, 28 June 2021 18:41 (three years ago) link
yeah warriors trying to thread some win now win later needle might be too much
― lag∞n, Monday, 28 June 2021 18:42 (three years ago) link
I'll take Wiggins and Wiseman and the 7th over Siakam
― reggae mike love (polyphonic), Monday, 28 June 2021 18:44 (three years ago) link
nate duncan & hollinger talked about this recently on one of their podcasts, and nate (who i don't always agree with) made a pretty compelling case for why the warriors need to trade wiseman. the idea that he's going to lead the franchise post-splash bros seems pretty farcical, esp given that his development will be stunted to some degree given the warriors current ambitions. it's pretty hard for a big to be the pillar of a franchise in today's NBA unless you're embiid or jokic, basically, and wiseman doesn't seem to have that level of talent in a number of different ways. so what needle are you even threading, exactly?
― J0rdan S., Monday, 28 June 2021 18:46 (three years ago) link
siakam was scoring crunch time playoff baskets for the team that won it all a couple years ago! hes really good, warriors fans are attached to andrew wiggins now tho i guess...
― lag∞n, Monday, 28 June 2021 18:47 (three years ago) link
the big knock on siakam health aside is hes not really a #1 scoring option but thats not an issue on the warriors great opportunity to buy low on a guy who everyone was wild about a minute ago
― lag∞n, Monday, 28 June 2021 18:49 (three years ago) link
keeping wiggins as well via s&t oubre or whatever wld be better fwiw if the dubs are willing to pay the tax bill
― lag∞n, Monday, 28 June 2021 18:51 (three years ago) link
his driving to the basket game could look really good on the warriors
― call all destroyer, Monday, 28 June 2021 18:51 (three years ago) link
yeah there's the opportunity cost question of whether you could get an even better player for that package but i think the warriors would have to feel pretty great about that trade.

yeah this plus his passing is much better than wiggins

yah the oubre sign in trade would be ideal. but do the raptors want oubre?
― pure rim rest (Spottie), Monday, 28 June 2021 18:55 (three years ago) link
maybe if its a short deal just to make the contracts match
― lag∞n, Monday, 28 June 2021 18:57 (three years ago) link
yah but oubre wants something longterm. only been doing short term deals thus far.
― pure rim rest (Spottie), Monday, 28 June 2021 18:58 (three years ago) link
if you gave oubre 3/60 it would be slightly less money total than the two years left on wiggins deal ($64m) just spread out over an extra year. maybe they'd think that has more trade value if oubre has a better season. sign and trade hard caps you for a year but if they were rebuilding it prob wouldn't matter

― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 June 2021 19:28 (three years ago) link
i would say one of them is better than wiggins, depending on how you feel about harrison barnes. i'm gonna say the jury is still out on julius randle. but anyway it's more a question of how many of them are better than siakam and the answer to that question is probably also still "one"
― J0rdan S., Monday, 28 June 2021 19:35 (three years ago) link
Julius Randle is definitely better than Wiggins
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 June 2021 19:40 (three years ago) link
Randle carried a team to the playoffs and Wiggins missed the playoffs playing with Steph Curry
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 June 2021 19:41 (three years ago) link
oh yeah i mean he was definitely better this season. i just have no idea what's his true level of play in reality
― J0rdan S., Monday, 28 June 2021 19:45 (three years ago) link
With the exception of poor 3pt shooting Siakam basically replicated his #s from his all-star season. I think with less of the offensive burden on his shoulders he'd look pretty damn good in golden state.
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Monday, 28 June 2021 19:58 (three years ago) link
but it does feel like a bit of an overpay if it's Wiseman + the pick + Wiggins. It's too bad Wiseman wasn't able to show a little more this year, seems like his stock is down significantly from where it was when he was drafted. I still think he has high potential but he's clearly a project

― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 30 June 2021 16:50 (three years ago) link
My impression of Zach Collins' personality is that he'll keep trying to work his way back into the NBA, even if it means another long rehab and a stint out of country... until it is obvious to him there's no hope of success. Could take a while for that to sink in.

Ilgauskas had like 6 foot surgeries before one finally worked
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 30 June 2021 18:52 (three years ago) link
imagine a bunch of teams will be happy to give collins another shot at a cost of very little
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 30 June 2021 19:01 (three years ago) link
Even bill Walton eventually had a healthy season for Boston. Admittedly both those guys were more talented than collins.
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 30 June 2021 23:19 (three years ago) link
yeah i guess that's my question w/ collins... what is he good at in the NBA exactly? shooting kinda?
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 1 July 2021 00:13 (three years ago) link
some defensive potential but i think he fouled like it was going out of style
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 1 July 2021 00:20 (three years ago) link
if his foot gets right he could play some backup minutes again but i think the ship has sailed on him ever being a starter or anything.

that aint a bad offer

yeah Brogdon in Philly actually makes sense to me

indy still thinking of simmons as a guard big mistake
― lag∞n, Friday, 2 July 2021 20:00 (three years ago) link
of maybe theyre just doing the trade based on talent and figure the fit out later
― lag∞n, Friday, 2 July 2021 20:03 (three years ago) link
honestly getting him plus a first (is it indiana's #13??) would be a great deal for philly. i know its not a asset haul but it gives them a player who complements their group rly well plus a 1st rounder which can either be used to draft a good player or sent off for another vet.
― class project pat (m bison), Friday, 2 July 2021 20:07 (three years ago) link
i feel like one of the major hesitations for sixers in that deal would having your two best players both w/ extensive prior histories of leg injuries
― J0rdan S., Friday, 2 July 2021 20:12 (three years ago) link
yeah good pt. if they want durability but no 3 point range, demar derozan is available!
― class project pat (m bison), Friday, 2 July 2021 20:18 (three years ago) link
I would have taken that deal if I was the sixers, assuming it’s the 13th pick. I also think the pacers could be really good if they just nailed that pick.
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 2 July 2021 22:27 (three years ago) link
yeah, feel like theyre one big wing away from being a goodass team. i think they need to trade turner, though. franz wagner? jalen johnson? ziaire williams as the nu paul george?
― class project pat (m bison), Friday, 2 July 2021 22:34 (three years ago) link
word out of indy is that trade rumour is inaccurate
― micah, Friday, 2 July 2021 23:13 (three years ago) link
simmons would fit at the 4 next to turner, and the pacers have the guards to fill out the roster. would need to trade sabonis though. there might be the bones of a 3 team trade that would make sense
