wilbon is kinda the worst

lag∞n, Sunday, 19 May 2024 20:56 (one month ago) link

tough to choose

brony james (k3vin k.), Sunday, 19 May 2024 21:06 (one month ago) link

hes such a tedious bore

lag∞n, Sunday, 19 May 2024 21:16 (one month ago) link

imo he was kind of a breath of fresh air in the early 2000s on espn bc most sports writers were stodgy white guys but he hasnt grown at all

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Sunday, 19 May 2024 21:39 (one month ago) link

i can't watch wilbon at all anymore, is he still complaining about millennials

Clay, Sunday, 19 May 2024 21:48 (one month ago) link

he has the most conventional cliche takes and delivers them like theyre the deepest wisdom

lag∞n, Sunday, 19 May 2024 22:04 (one month ago) link

i think this is right, PTI was fun and the right mix of intelligent/irreverent at its peak, now he's just another old guy

call all destroyer, Monday, 20 May 2024 02:03 (one month ago) link

yeah pti was ok i liked the list

lag∞n, Monday, 20 May 2024 02:04 (one month ago) link

Pti and around the horn was fun for a moment in time. Really hard to be a sports generalist and sound smart now there’s too many specifics that’s have lapped these guys 100 times over. Steven a gets away w it cos he’s an entertainer first and does a good job selling whatever he’s saying, but I’m not going to Steven a for sound takes and wisdom.

Specifics = specialists

it's been a tough playoffs for the espn superstar narrative machine that's for sure, even the one blueblood market left in the celtics they always seem oddly unenthusiastic about

yeah they shouldve gotten behind this celtics team instead of deciding they were tired of them now what do they have left luka, sad

lag∞n, Monday, 20 May 2024 16:04 (one month ago) link

theyll prob change their minds about the celtics over the course of the pacers series if its going well, what other choice do they have

lag∞n, Monday, 20 May 2024 16:09 (one month ago) link

celtics dominating the playoffs so far but in a boring way vs depleted teams is a funny conundrum for the talking heads

lag∞n, Monday, 20 May 2024 16:14 (one month ago) link

lol my god just watched 7 minutes of first take supposedly talking about the game for 7 minutes and they literally spent the entire time pontificating about miller's "dumb ass question" thing at the press conference

whats the dumb ass question thing

lag∞n, Monday, 20 May 2024 16:42 (one month ago) link

assume he meant malone — malone got frustrated about a question about the blown 20 point lead and muttered “stupid ass question” after giving a frustrated non-answer

brony james (k3vin k.), Monday, 20 May 2024 17:54 (one month ago) link

tough out there

lag∞n, Monday, 20 May 2024 18:07 (one month ago) link

that was one of the most fascinating series weve ever had theres so much in there to dissect but alas

I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Monday, 20 May 2024 18:23 (one month ago) link

xpost - yeah they just talked about malone's conference and didn't really talk about the game

fuuuuuuuuuck noooooooooooooooo

Draymond Green will be part of TNT's "Inside the NBA" for the complete Western Conference Finals. He has not previously been part of the studio team for its on-site conference final coverage.

— Sports Media Watch (@paulsen_smw) May 20, 2024

its trenchant opinions and ax grinding time baby

lag∞n, Monday, 20 May 2024 22:06 (one month ago) link

he was good last year IMO. this year he went the way of "old media" and started making it about annoying and hot takes for engagement. maybe he'll settle down and get back to basics.

he USUALLY always come back after being a dummy like this and admits to being a dummy. but we'll see. its crazy the rudy thing was a pretty safe bet but the wolves have surprised us all.

I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Monday, 20 May 2024 23:00 (one month ago) link

ILH historians will note that I love dray’s game and will defend him on the court forever. but he’s also a clown on the court and a wannabe buffoon perk off the court

brony james (k3vin k.), Monday, 20 May 2024 23:08 (one month ago) link

I think it's a bad vibe to have currently active players being analysts during the playoffs

tbf that’s been happening across sports for years now. it might just be a bad idea to have draymond doing it

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 21 May 2024 00:59 (one month ago) link

yah I don't know I can't be objective I hate him so much

lol

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 May 2024 01:00 (one month ago) link

He’s really got barely anyone on his side anymore besides some teammates, his fam, about 55% of warriors fans and a few people at Klutch

I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Tuesday, 21 May 2024 04:11 (one month ago) link

is it defense

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 May 2024 21:12 (one month ago) link

wild how already truly awful and dated the tight shirts long baggy pants era looks in that curry/okc clip

brony james (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 22 May 2024 19:14 (one month ago) link

ha yeah was thinking the same they should fx those sleeved jerseys out of the historical record

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 May 2024 19:17 (one month ago) link

enes kanter's (refuse to use his other name) shrug in the curry clip still gets me all these years later

NBC contacted artist John Tesh about bringing back the iconic NBA on NBC theme song “Roundball Rock.” via @LeBatardShow.

Are you excited for it to potentially come back? pic.twitter.com/2NSqtCSLHZ

finally some good news in the world

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 May 2024 23:45 (one month ago) link

fox college basketball had the rights to it for a few years which means fans tuning into rutgers-northwestern got the roundball rock bumper

Charles Barkley says morale sucks amid the uncertainty of "Inside the NBA" moving forward. And discusses the possibility of hiring the crew to his production company, continuing to do the show, and selling it. pic.twitter.com/gLoiKm7SM3

that nate jones guy on twitter was pretty vociferously saying that latter scenario will happen. who knows if he's right but what he's saying makes sense logically

I think Amazon cuts a deal with Turner to continue to produce the show for them. https://t.co/Ur9dP6c3w0

— Nate Jones (@JonesOnTheNBA) May 22, 2024

Zaz still has to pay for operations to produce Turner NHL, MLB, and NCAA studio shows, so it makes sense to draw a profit from Amazon for something they will continue doing anyway (producing sports studio shows). Amazon pays talent salaries and production fees + profit to Turner. https://t.co/3Kab6q4bro

— Nate Jones (@JonesOnTheNBA) May 22, 2024

Inside the NBA is not NBC’s style at all, and NBC takes pride in producing their own sports shows. Amazon is more likely to farm out production. However, I could see Inside being more of a fit on Peacock. NBC has done less serious sports programming on there (Kevin Hart + Snoop) https://t.co/u6OtgMRuxv

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 23 May 2024 21:16 (one month ago) link

makes sense but seems unlikely just in the sense that ive never seen an arrangement like that, at least not for something as big as the nba, if companies are shelling out billions for a sport theyre prob ready to just roll their own shows too, guess you never know with amazon not being a tv network but they do still produce a ton of stuff

lag∞n, Thursday, 23 May 2024 21:21 (one month ago) link

inside will prob just turn into a podcast, sad!

lag∞n, Thursday, 23 May 2024 21:22 (one month ago) link

VC-pilled nate jones has a lot of ideas

brony james (k3vin k.), Thursday, 23 May 2024 21:23 (one month ago) link

that shit you retweeted was so bad lol

lag∞n, Thursday, 23 May 2024 21:24 (one month ago) link

those tweets were proof that no matter what opinion you come up with there’s someone out there who actually holds it.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 23 May 2024 21:28 (one month ago) link

kevin hope you dont mind this crossover event but ilh needs to know

my three-part plan to fix the NBA:

1) subsidize their primary in-sport rival
2) erect as many barriers as possible for average fans to watch the games
3) bring back mark jackson https://t.co/zCH3UvUn5j pic.twitter.com/w0av40rFi3
