yeah first year coaches winning coty isn't that surprising considering the formula is generally 'this team was better than we thought they would be' and an upgrade in coach in coach is the easiest way to quickly improve a team and a first year guy is gonna be the least known quantity = surprising success.

It's weird how when the Jazz put Gobert in the starting lineup they instantly became an elite defensive team despite that lack of rounding

Zach Lowe has Gobert fourth in his DPOY rankings, does that put him in the cult

well to take literalism to a sadistic extreme...the notice of his defensive stats is largely online aside from the errant block or dunk making its way into mainstream highlight reels

which fwiw is fine, it's mostly amusing that the hint of a slight on gobert had such a predictable result

shotblocking defensive specialist centers don't make highlight reels, it's true, they win DPOY a lot tho

being well rounded ain't all that. Shaq wasn't well rounded on offense or defense and he was pretty good.

I'd guess it's near-unanimous curry as no 1 outside of local guys voting for harden and wb and lebron. That run curry had sit the end of the season was impossible to ignore.

played well through injury, so probably got some admiring the sacrifice votes, but that's 1 5th place and 3 6th place votes most of which are prob homers. I'd have voted gasol 6th personally.

well i meant other than those guys. in 5 years we'll probably look back and see him as a pretty uninspired choice. it's just dumb that there are probably 5 more forwards who deserve this recognition before DAJ or any other center
