Shaq is all smiles because he will earn a few more million dollars for doing little odd jobs here and there. Doc looks grimly serious because Shaq has just executed a cannonball into Doc's swimming pool and now only half the water is left in the pool.

jordan u forgot one crucial point that i dont have to watch rasheed power-walk from 3 pt line to 3 pt line thus the regular season will be less depressing. i know what to expect from fat shaq and he is really fourth/fifth big man on the depth chart and at a min salary and somehow that's less depressing
for real though i think cs will be energized by the finals run and ready for vengeance. injuries were big last year too
clincher is that league pass also means i can watch okc all the time if all else fails

this i don't believe. i think o'neal is desperately concerned with going out on a super high note -- preferably by beating bryant in the finals. he could have signed for more money elsewhere. not that i think he's likely to put boston over-the-top at this stage of his career, but whatevs.

shaq to solidify celtics:
BOSTON — NBA analyst David Aldridge said Wednesday that with the addition of Shaquille O'Neal, the Celtics have vastly improved their chances of leading the league in three-second lane violations for the 2010–2011 season. "Not only does Shaq's presence in the paint give his team more opportunities to turn the ball over, but the Celtics have also added an experienced big man who makes an already old team significantly older," said Aldridge, adding that O'Neal should fill a key role in terms of drastically slowing down the Celtics' offense. "Danny Ainge was looking for someone with size who can't make it down to the other end of the court, and he went out and got the best in the business." Aldridge added that while O'Neal isn't the dominant force he once was, he believes Shaq still has a thing or two to teach teams who think it's a good idea to sign him.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 14 August 2010 17:14 (thirteen years ago) link
He may not entirely solidify the C's, but he can add a lot of viscosity.

on paper and based on my faded memories of his great prime years, boston signing shaq sounds like a very good move. then, you read stuff like this:
SamAmicoNBA Shaq on Mo: "Guys who couldn't even play were worried about shots. Why was Mo (Williams) taking 15 shots, and I'm only taking four?"
if o'neal is complaining about his shots on a 66-win team featuring lebron james, i'm not convinced he'll all of a sudden be a good team player in boston. i imagine if he could work well anywhere, it would be there, given the quality character guys leading the team, but still . . .

“I’m not trying to start nothing here, but Erik Spoelstra calls a timeout with 1:30, down by 16. Thirty seconds later, that play happens,” said Scalabrine, a former player who won a title with Boston in 2008. “Why is he calling a timeout at 1:30 and why is that play happening 30 seconds later? That looked shady to me.”
Scalabrine made multiple media appearances since saying those words, debating whether it could have been an intentional move. While the tone was generally diplomatic from both organizations, Scalabrine’s campaign did draw a more stark reaction from Heat legend Udonis Haslem. The three-time champion left his critique in the comments section of a video of Scalabrine’s appearance on “The Dan LeBatard Show.”
“Shut yo sucka ass up!!” Haslem commented. “He got pushed. Brian Weak ass!!”

empty corner post up interesting way to bust the zone
This play to me started the Celtics slaughter of the Heat zone. Jrue tells Tatum to come post up around the short corner and they kinda isolate that side. Him being at this spot makes the double team/stunt easier to spot. Hauser got 3 threes off this. Tatum had a 10 assist game pic.twitter.com/iM540ZJV2H— Nik☘️ (@__Kingnik) April 21, 2024
