2007 summertime NBA free agentry pachinko thread

Just a thread to discuss who might go where, who did, who stayed put, who cleaned up and who burned a pile of cash for a shot at a title. Just so we can keep out hand in play during the summer.

From a Portlander's POV, the most important free agent is our own Travis Outlaw, who should stay put here, since (IIRC) the Blazers can match any offer.

Travis is a young, shy, lanky wallflower-type kid who scarcely ever says more than five words together. Blazers drafted him out of high school three years back and have been developing him slowly. But he is a greyhound, can jump like nobody's business, can shoot, and is going to be pure dynamite as a supporting player for Oden, Aldridge and Roy. Gotta keep him. Urgent and key. Grade AAA athlete.

With Seattle getting Kevin Durant and with Rashard Lewis a free agent this summer, who's going to pick up Lewis? Or will Seattle try to bend itself into a pretzel and play them both? Opinions?

The LA Lakers have reportedly agreed to a 6 year, $30 million contract
with Luke Walton.

Jesus H Christ, Walton is worth five mill a year now?

He's a good player, but when Walton is your third best player, your team has problems.

I picked up the newspaper this am and found my question already answered: Rashard Lewis to Orlando Magic.

Steve Blake to Blazers. Most free agents seem to be staying put so far. Still waiting on word about Travis Outlaw.

Today I read that the Warriors were meeting with James Posey. Maybe he can play center!

polyphonic, Monday, 16 July 2007 05:07 (sixteen years ago) link

Everyone in the NBA could play center for the Warriors.

Stevie Franchise back in Houston! I have no idea if this is a good thing for them or not. My friend M0hamm3d will be psyched, he was like ultimate Franchise Rockets booster and Spurz hatah.

two weeks pass...

I have been away. Far, far away in a place where news never goes. I see in the meantime that Kevin Garnett is now a Celtic. Any other free agent moves, small or big, I may have missed?
