I still can't believe Tampa Bay beat both Green Bay and New Orleans.

boy you can make an argument for a lot of these teams

kansas city is pretty talent-poor, and they have no idea what they're doing defensively, but dorsey's apparently had a solid year and they have charles and flowers and i guess derrick johnson

the lions have almost nothing going on for them defensively except the rookie safety, delmas - peterson and foote are past their primes, and sims has been inconsistent and often injured. but stafford + megatron + pettigrew is a nice young core to build around on offense

the raiders and redskins are teams that have talented rosters that are also poorly constructed. they have some potential, if they can be liberated from their insane owners

the bucs are awful defensively, with exactly two young players they can build around (ruud and perennially underrated safety tanard jackson), but they have some offensive talent - some good players on the o-line, a good TE, a nice receiver in bryant, cadillac apparently still has something in the tank, and freeman has actually looked pretty promising this year.

the seahawks severely neglected their offense under ruskell, which is why he was shitcanned earlier in the season. they have very little in the way of promising young talent on offense - carlson, forsett, unger - but there's a lot to like defensively. their post-hasselbeck/jones years are gonna be pretty lean

the browns have some really good young o-linemen - the alex mack pick looks like a home run - and some interesting players at receiver, running back and QB. defensively there's not a lot going on except for shaun rogers. their special teams are amazing year in and year out, and josh cribbs owns.

the rams have nothing on offense except for steven jackson - actually i like laurent robinson as a player, but he's always hurt - and on defense they have maybe 2 or 3 guys who should be starting for an nfl team.

so i really see it coming down to detroit vs st louis, and because the rams have less to build around they get the gas face

Browns, KC, Oakland -- All showed signs of improvement in the second half.

Seattle seemed to get worse as the season went on and got freakin clobbered a couple of times.

Washington finished where they started.

Tampa improved some, knocked off the Saints, but I'm still not buying on their situation.

The RAMS are a minor league team at this point. So much for Spagnola being a whiz, but then again the Giants D looked pretty humble this year. Rams got to be the choice, including the sideshow of Rush Limbaugh mid season.

Lions had a bunch of injury problems but they do have a few skills players that might have some hope. Criminy they went from zero to two wins, throw them a bone. They at least IMPROVED some.

Cleveland are probably going to fire Mangini, but I almost think with their defense, running game and returner, they could almost be decent next year (i.e. meaning .500). I'd almost say that is one of the more cherry jobs, as the worst part of the clean up is possibly done.

Oaktown could have been .500 club this year if they didn't stick with their bust of a QB until mid-season. They got some other issues, but they have to have someone who can complete a screen pass and over 1/2 of their passes.

i picked the rams though my heart says redskins are actually the most fucked

not if they hire shanahan

i don't think it'll work for them "even" with that. cos he is no jimmy johnson/john madden style mad man who can snake charm the cokeheaded medusa of an owner.

i'd wait and see--he would be the most competent coach snyder has hired by quite a bit (sorry old joe gibbs)
