― johnny crunch, Monday, 4 February 2008 12:45 (sixteen years ago) link
I actually woke up early for once, wtf. You know, I hope Pats lighten up next year and get one (1) sense of humor after this thing but I'm sure Belichick's hopeless

i want to apologise to Mr. Tom Petty for bashing his selection as the super bowl halftime show after it turned out that his performance was nearly the best thing about the whole super bowl, second only to when they paid tribute to that dude who has been a Giants' coach since 1948. my dad was born in 1948. doesn't that dude qualify for retirement yet?
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 4 February 2008 13:46 (sixteen years ago) link
dudes this game was mentioned on the Radio 4 Today Programme this morning, in the UK!
i watched the BBC2 broadcast last night (this year was the first time ever that the BBC has broadcast the Super Bowl) and it was being commentated entirely by morons and guys who were barely old enough to tie their own ties; apparently feetball is hugely popular among Brits though (i.e. the Wembley "match" between the Giants and the Dolphins this year).. the yokels in the booth kept saying things like "and we'll... we'll start a Europe-wide league!" lol good luck with that fellas
― Tracer Hand, Monday, 4 February 2008 13:47 (sixteen years ago) link
i actually enjoyed the tame stylings of mr petty as well -- opening with "american girl" forgives a lot of sins
but yeah basically my reaction can be summed up as follows
HOLY
SHIT
Tyree you caught a pass with your helmet and won me $175.
― brownie, Monday, 4 February 2008 14:05 (sixteen years ago) link
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS (only without the $175 ;_;)

how many running plays were there last night? like six?
― Tracer Hand, Monday, 4 February 2008 15:08 (sixteen years ago) link
Giants ran quite a bit in the first half. Patriots couldn't get much of a ground game going.

none of the smug pats fans have showed up to work yet ;_;
― omar little, Monday, 4 February 2008 18:26 (sixteen years ago) link
Halfback Brandon Jacobs, whose running style is about as subtle as an Angus Young guitar riff, put it even more bluntly: "Most definitely, other teams gave the Patriots too much respect. Our attitude was, '(Expletive) them (expletives). We're gonna beat these (expletives).'"
― omar little, Monday, 4 February 2008 18:30 (sixteen years ago) link
i think he called seymour a "little (expletive)" post-game as well
― J0rdan S., Monday, 4 February 2008 18:34 (sixteen years ago) link
I'll give you a quote on Seymour," Jacobs said. "You can write that he's a soft (expletive). He said we should get ready to go home. Well, now he's on the team that went 18-1."

I seriously got like 45 minutes of sleep last night cause I had to be in early for nu-employer orientation and badge photo coffee klatsch, I don't know how I'm really maintaining right now except that I was wise enough to avoid alcohol yesterday and I'm still riding this weird high. I didn't go to bed because I didn't want it to end, I sat up and watched nfl.com highlights and interviews and shit and just tried to pretend I was living in an eternal loop of the last two and half minutes of the game
― El Tomboto, Monday, 4 February 2008 18:55 (sixteen years ago) link
if Belichick's gear as DC from Wide Right is in the HOF then they there's no justice in not putting Spags' right next to it. A perfect circle.
― El Tomboto, Monday, 4 February 2008 18:56 (sixteen years ago) link
so are you still jumping ship next year or will you stick with the giants?
― chicago kevin, Monday, 4 February 2008 19:08 (sixteen years ago) link
I never said I was going to start rooting against them, so they'll still be my NFC team, I guess, but a man has to stand by his statements. In my sad lonely mind there is nothing more appropriate than rooting for the sleepiest, tealest, smallest market perennial sleeper in the league
― El Tomboto, Monday, 4 February 2008 19:15 (sixteen years ago) link
that's funnt that jacobs talked so much shit. he didn't play very well. i didn't fel like the giants got their ground game going until they started running bradshaw.

no i completely understand. that's why i can root for the cubs but not the white sox. or actually, i can root for the white sox like 154 games a year or whatever.

so is belichick going to switch back to his filthy grey hoodie now instead of this new fancy man red one he was sporting last night?
also 4th-and-13.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 4 February 2008 20:49 (sixteen years ago) link
His fancy man red one highlighted his bitchtits and stubby arms! lolololol
Tom: He's from the same town as a very good friend of mine and was close friends with my friend's brother, to the point where said brother's early death is mentioned in a pre-Superbowl article as a pivotal life event for Spags that eventually led him to the path of creating a kickass amazing defense.
― HI DERE, Monday, 4 February 2008 20:51 (sixteen years ago) link
yeah this. are boston papers giving him shit for this? as a giant fan i was totally psyched they went for it there.
