Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 1hOn the same day the #Bills announce they’ll move Kiko Alonso to OLB… they host Brandon Spikes. His old coach Pepper Johnson is on staff
1. alonso to olb sounds weird to me but what do i know2. can't wait for the schedule to be announced so i can make plans for the day spikes ends brady's career

steve smith 3 year deal at baltimore. for those following at home that is now 4 smiths at the ravens, which i believe is enough to form an 80s band.
― Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 14 March 2014 21:19 (ten years ago) link
Aw dang, I like Steve Smith but do not like the Ravens. I will hate to root against him every Sunday.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 14 March 2014 21:33 (ten years ago) link
the ravens stopped the patriots and the 49ers from winning the super bowl two years ago, then did us all the tremendous favor of falling-flat the next year. thus, i can be happy -- and even root -- for the ravens.

browner is joining the patriots
Today, I am proud to announce that I am a New England Patriot. I am honored that the Patriots are making me part of their legendary organization, and am grateful for the opportunity Mr. Kraft, Coach Belichick, Nick Caserio andthe entire team have given me. I intend to diligently work with the same passion and dedication that I have displayed since coming into the NFL to uphold the great traditions and qualities that are embodied by the Patriots.I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the Seattle Seahawks for giving a CFL player the once in-a-lifetime opportunity to return to the NFL, making a young boy's dream come true. To Coach Pete Carroll, GM John Schneider, John Idzik, Coach Richard, Rocky Seto, the LOB, my teammates, the training staff, the equipment guys the Seahawks organization as a whole and most importantly the 12th Man, I say thank you for everything you have done for myself and my family.I am a truly blessed person.

there was a weird series of confirmations and denials yesterday, which i basically read as a) agent tries to maintain leverage with other visits supposedly scheduled 2) player undermines him by telling everyone he is definitely signing
― Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 14 March 2014 23:39 (ten years ago) link
right. apparently the flirtation with some other teams was just a smokescreen (for leverage, i assume).
― Daniel, Esq 2, Friday, 14 March 2014 23:40 (ten years ago) link
Steve Smith going to the Ravens pretty much figures, he will fit in well on that club of loudmouths.
B-more should have just signed Boldin though.

Colts need to throw $$$ at Alex Mack, get a high-quality C locked in for multiple years. Offensive line has been such a massive problem, drastically affecting both the running/passing games, seems like this would be a great fix. They just signed Phil Costa 2yr/$2+m, which ideally would be for backup unless there were a good reason he lost his job in Dallas last year.

The Bears are an interesting story to me next year in that they are changing the guard quite a bit. The D-Line is going to be remade. I got a feeling they are going to turn into a high scoring no defense type of team. If Chicago has one of those clubs, that would be really weird.

Incognito said he still considers Martin a friend and was excited when he learned of last week's trade that sent the former Dolphins tackle to the San Francisco 49ers. And despite all of the tumult he experienced last season, Incognito remains attached to the idea of playing for the Dolphins, saying, "I want to stay in Miami. I would play for free to go back there, because I love it. It's about redemption."
― nakhchivan, Thursday, 20 March 2014 21:06 (ten years ago) link
the only redemption Cog will get in Miami is if he turns in Monopoly pieces at McDonald's for a free large soda.

Terrelle Pryor is almost certainly leaving Oakland.
I had big doubts about the guy coming out of Ohio State, but he was fun to watch when he was in a groove. Hope he winds up on a team that will use him, if only in package plays.

In a letter released Monday night, the R******* announced that they're starting a foundation called the "Original American Foundation."
Team owner Dan Snyder writes that he and his staff traveled to 26 tribal reservations over the past four months to speak with Native Americans, and were inspired to start the foundation to provide "genuine opportunities for Tribal communities."

how low must it make tim tebow feel that no one looked in his direction for the entirety of last season, and yet mark sanchez gets finds a new team in three days.
― fact checking cuz, Tuesday, 25 March 2014 02:58 (ten years ago) link
yeah especially given all the teams that were in real desperate QB situations over the last couple years, he didn't even get offered a backup gig. maybe he's even worse than we all thought?
― frogbs, Tuesday, 25 March 2014 13:06 (ten years ago) link
Sanchez has one major advantage over Tebow that may come in handy when playing quarterback: he can actually throw a football. Not well, mind you, but he he is capable of putting an oblong leather object in his hand and advancing it forward through the air in the (very) general direction of another member of his team.
― Prince Kajuku (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 25 March 2014 15:30 (ten years ago) link
Unfortunately for Tebow, its part of the job description for a qb.

so now the Bears got Jared Allen?
― frogbs, Wednesday, 26 March 2014 15:37 (ten years ago) link
same money over 4 yrs as GBP gave peppers over 3 but twice as much guaranteed money, for a player i think a couple years younger. seems pretty reasonable for both teams tbh.
― Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 26 March 2014 15:54 (ten years ago) link
Jared Allen is not the first All Pro defensive lineman to go from the Vikings to the Bears as the great Alan Page finished his career in Chicago. I'd say Allen's career finish in Chicago probably decides if he ends up in the Hall of Fame like Justice Page.
It's an interesting signing, hopefully a productive one for the Bears. That run defense needs some serious work. Even with the injury, I kind of hated to see Henry Melton go. That's kind of the sad thing about many of the players that have left Chicago the past couple years, they were all solid to excellent players for the Bears.
