i will grant you that the seahawks think they need a receiver and they prob know their business p well but they have just got to consecutive super bowls without one and their offense is built around rushing for 120+ yards and protecting wilson while he runs around until coverage opens up, which has been a pretty good strategy to date. they were worst when they had harvin on the team.

and graham was unstoppable when he was covered by linebackers. defenses figured that one out already. he is still good but not the best use of a 1st round pick for them in particular

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 20:18 (nine years ago) link

Filed to ESPN: Rams close to trading QB Sam Bradford to Philadelphia for Nick Foles and draft-pick compensation, per sources. <<< wtf

Mordy, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 20:19 (nine years ago) link

i know it hasn't been considered but maybe the seahawks should give the ball to lynch

nothing official on vereen to NYG yet but they have signed j. casillas

i..... don't think it's that simple

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 10 March 2015 20:23 (nine years ago) link

i think the eagles were smart to get rid of foles, he was bad last year just missing guys flying wide open all the time

chip already has a pretty decent track record of extracting more out of QBs in the nfl than people expected so if bradford stays healthy there probably won't be a huge drop off

that said if i was an eagles fan i'd be shitting my pants over their offseason

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 10 March 2015 20:25 (nine years ago) link

good on j. casillas for getting paid

perfect really

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 20:47 (nine years ago) link

hatcats new world order might actually be a real thing - one solid, low cost FA pick up in stephen paea from chicago

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 20:49 (nine years ago) link

torrey smith 5y, $8m/year in san francisco

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 20:52 (nine years ago) link

$22m guaranteed.

seems like way too much. i think they have a ton of cap space tho.

Well, this is interesting: Bills also expressing interest in free-agent CB Darrelle Revis, per sources. Rex does love his CBs...

slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 21:50 (nine years ago) link

steelers supposedly have inquired about revis too

vereen getting over $12m for 3y from giants, that is good money and fair play to him, but i am glad another team is paying it

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 21:59 (nine years ago) link

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora 21s21 seconds ago
Revis's reps have told teams they have $48M for 3yrs on the table now, with $40M guaranteed. My sense if that is from the Jets...

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 22:01 (nine years ago) link

the jets getting revis back after he won a super bowl with the patriots would be the saddest most perfect jets thing ever

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 10 March 2015 22:22 (nine years ago) link

seems like pretty fair money for vereen but it seems like he was mostly a good fit for new england's specific system, idk how he'll look outside of that

Official trade: Eagles gave up a 4th in 2015, a 2nd in 2016, and Foles for Sam Bradford and a 5th in 2015.

chipppppppppp

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 10 March 2015 22:51 (nine years ago) link

holy moley

polyphonic, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 22:54 (nine years ago) link

Condition to Foles/Bradford deal ... If Bradford doesn't start 8 games, Eagles get a 4th round pick back. If he's reinjured, they get a 3..

polyphonic, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 22:56 (nine years ago) link

i don't understand

Mordy, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 23:01 (nine years ago) link

there's literally no eagles upside to this deal it seems?

Mordy, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 23:01 (nine years ago) link

That seems like a heck of a haul for the Rams, they got some real talent on the defense and if they can use the draft pick with a free agent to fix their offensive line, they could be good. Bradford at this point is a complete and total mystery missing a year and a half to me. I know he was playing pretty decent when he got hurt, but that was 2013, it's been a while. The second round pick in 2016 is the big thing, that's a potential good draft pick for any club. I got to think with that guarantee and the fact they traded two picks, I can't see the Eagles trading for Mariotta.

Not that Revis or Marshall are bad players, but they are expensive. That will be 20+ million dollars in a couple guys. I'd think they could be better served by getting a few 1 short smaller contract free free agents vets.

earlnash, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 23:10 (nine years ago) link

i guess the upside is that bradford is actually good

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 10 March 2015 23:13 (nine years ago) link

Oh the only thing that comes to mind when I come across Bears fans whining about wanting to get rid of Jay Cutler is that somehow I just KNOW that freak will get dealt to Arizona with a coach like Bruce Arians who actually knows what he is doing and smarmy face will throw for like 4500 yards with a bunch of bombs.

All I'm saying is that this guy at one time was considered one of the worst first round QB busts ever. It can happen.

earlnash, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 23:15 (nine years ago) link

I wonder how a club really evaluates a player like Bradford for a trade. Do they get a work out with him? I'd think for a player that has missed a season and half, the trading club would want to somehow get to see him throw some place before making deal.

earlnash, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 23:18 (nine years ago) link

iirc the steelers can't afford revis

mookieproof, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 23:25 (nine years ago) link

Jimmy Graham to the Seahawks!

earlnash, Wednesday, 11 March 2015 00:59 (nine years ago) link

5y $70m $40m guaranteed. believed pats offered mid-30s guaranteed.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 11 March 2015 02:29 (nine years ago) link

it's 39 guaranteed but the first three years value is 48 and he'll probably make that.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 11 March 2015 02:36 (nine years ago) link

If Philly is doing a deal like that for Sam Bradford, they've taken Mariota off their draft board surely.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 11 March 2015 02:37 (nine years ago) link

the instant morphing of the media's opinions up here re: revis - from "pay him" to "omg it's /the way/ and /the system, ew greedy darrelle" has been hysssssteeeerical. ban dan shaughnessy for life
