i think the eagles were smart to get rid of foles, he was bad last year just missing guys flying wide open all the time
chip already has a pretty decent track record of extracting more out of QBs in the nfl than people expected so if bradford stays healthy there probably won't be a huge drop off
that said if i was an eagles fan i'd be shitting my pants over their offseason

vereen getting over $12m for 3y from giants, that is good money and fair play to him, but i am glad another team is paying it

Condition to Foles/Bradford deal ... If Bradford doesn't start 8 games, Eagles get a 4th round pick back. If he's reinjured, they get a 3..

i don't understand
― Mordy, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 23:01 (nine years ago) link
there's literally no eagles upside to this deal it seems?
That seems like a heck of a haul for the Rams, they got some real talent on the defense and if they can use the draft pick with a free agent to fix their offensive line, they could be good. Bradford at this point is a complete and total mystery missing a year and a half to me. I know he was playing pretty decent when he got hurt, but that was 2013, it's been a while. The second round pick in 2016 is the big thing, that's a potential good draft pick for any club. I got to think with that guarantee and the fact they traded two picks, I can't see the Eagles trading for Mariotta.
Not that Revis or Marshall are bad players, but they are expensive. That will be 20+ million dollars in a couple guys. I'd think they could be better served by getting a few 1 short smaller contract free free agents vets.
― earlnash, Tuesday, 10 March 2015 23:10 (nine years ago) link
i guess the upside is that bradford is actually good
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 10 March 2015 23:13 (nine years ago) link
Oh the only thing that comes to mind when I come across Bears fans whining about wanting to get rid of Jay Cutler is that somehow I just KNOW that freak will get dealt to Arizona with a coach like Bruce Arians who actually knows what he is doing and smarmy face will throw for like 4500 yards with a bunch of bombs.
All I'm saying is that this guy at one time was considered one of the worst first round QB busts ever. It can happen.

I wonder how a club really evaluates a player like Bradford for a trade. Do they get a work out with him? I'd think for a player that has missed a season and half, the trading club would want to somehow get to see him throw some place before making deal.

chiefs, who have major cap issues, paying a fortune for jeremy maclin. the numbers suggest they are swapping bowe out for maclin at the same cost. meanwhile they probably needed the dollar savings from just dumping bowe. i guess if any team needs a wide receiver, but smh all the same.

― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 11 March 2015 17:47 (nine years ago) link
It's official now.
I don't know about it being a good move. I mean, he's not untalented, but he's never been able to find the end zone, not much of a blocker, not really much of a receiver either, often injured, a lot of fumbles early in his career... maybe he's a late bloomer but I'm not upset about the Chargers moving on.
