Browns and Bengals is always a good game, no matter the records of either club. This year the game kinda means something, as I think who wins the division record might win the division, it's tight top to bottom.
Niners and Saints is a big game as the loser is 4-5. I think Niners on bubble as Saints got a weak division, they can make the playoffs at 9-7, I don't think SF can get in with that record.
Dallas losing to Jville would be a huge loss. Their schedule is tough, they got to beat teams under .500.
Rams have been playing better in the last 2-3 weeks, I think AZ has been slugging along but you got to wonder if they will have a week where they come out flat.
― earlnash, Wednesday, 5 November 2014 09:52 (nine years ago) link
Saints could make the playoffs at 7-9. That division is awful. I have no faith in Carolina, as much as I'd love to see them take it.

This is such a shame. Lattimore was one of the best rbs in college ball in the last decade or more, and I had the misfortune of seeing that injury when it happened (I nearly lost my lunch). I'd hoped he could come back from it, but it wasn't meant to be.

Mike Vick, who attended Virginia Tech, knows he's no Ivy League scholar, so when he was asked a long-winded question about his thoughts on the fans directing all of their frustration at general manager John Idzik, Vick was taken aback and offered a humorous response."Man, that was a tough question," the quarterback replied. "You might want to ask that question to Ryan Fitzpatrick or something, man. Harvard graduate. Jesus Christ, this is an interview at my locker."

― Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Friday, 7 November 2014 13:50 (nine years ago) link
I'm kinda not surprised that the Browns are 6-3, they got a good defense and their offensive line is talented. It's the same deal as with Arizona's rise the past couple years, both clubs had talent but were totally hampered by bottom of the NFL QB play. If you can't throw the ball at least to an average, you can't compete at all. Cleveland's d-line is big, doesn't get pushed around and they got good defensive backs that beyond coverage, they can tackle and keep down big plays.
― earlnash, Friday, 7 November 2014 21:57 (nine years ago) link
it seems like the last 6-7 years there's always been this "Cleveland could be decent this year" thing so it's not a surprise to me that one year they finally are
― Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Friday, 7 November 2014 21:59 (nine years ago) link
Got to be able to throw the ball. People complain about Romo and Cutler, but how bad would the Cowboys have been last year or the Bears the last couple years if they had QB play like Jville. Minnesota is probably more talented than the Bears, big time on defense, but they have had bad QB play.
― earlnash, Friday, 7 November 2014 22:13 (nine years ago) link
for cleveland it has definitely been all about missing at the qb position, and brian hoyer is hitting the alex smith low bar that allowed KCC to make the switch from a similar team with talent that wasn't winning to a playoff contender. another team in that bracket is miami but since they have had tannehill it has been more o-line issues that have prevented them from popping. you can take the lead in a game and win with defense and rushing but you can't fall behind and win without a competent qb with a few seconds to throw the ball.

People complain about Romo and Cutler, but how bad would the Cowboys have been last year or the Bears the last couple years if they had QB play like Jville.
I know that Cutler has his flaws but he's almost certainly the best QB Chicago's had in about 3 decades. So it is a little odd coming from Bears fans who (in my experience) seem to universally hate smokin' Jay
― Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Saturday, 8 November 2014 00:25 (nine years ago) link
I'd say ceiling for the Browns is probably 11 wins. They probably "should" beat ATL, HOUSTON, & CAROLINA. If they win those 3 and play .500 against the rest Bills, Colts, Bengals & Ravens you are at 11 wins. Nice to see them rebound after laying that hot duker against JVille after coming off that big win over the Steelers.
I think the Colts is the only team that could be a matchup issue for Cleveland, as their passing attack could put them down a couple scores quick. Then again while Indy is high powered, they have some black holes occasionally in their play on both sides of the ball.
I'm cool and hope Cleveland plays out well, it's been a long time.
Everyone hates Jay and Cutler definitely has some bad gunslinger tenancies at points, but criminy their offensive line has been bottom barrel to barely adequate. Turnovers do matter as it often puts the defense back onto the field and can wear them down, but Chicago's linebackers and defensive backs are not very good especially on tackling. They give up bunches of big after the catch plays.
― earlnash, Saturday, 8 November 2014 00:29 (nine years ago) link
they hate jay because he has upper echelon arm talent but is also a complete idiot, i don't know what's so hard to understand about that.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 8 November 2014 03:32 (nine years ago) link
problem is the bears are looking at him like a franchise QB instead of looking at him like the new jeff george. that said, jeff george had one very good season w/atlanta and an even better one with the raiders. cutler could do it but i don't know if he will, like i think he's dumber than george was. albeit not as cartoonishly evil.

idk, it's just so embarrassing. cutler is having a much better season than i thought (leading up to this game, at least), but a 95 QB rating and 17 TD up to week 10 with the talent at his disposal is something that you'd expect to be the floor, not the ceiling.
