Bears- No good reason, but it looks like most people are taking the Skins, so if I want to make up a game, this might be a chance. Bears D looked back in biz for most of the game versus the Giants.
Bills- I can't see Miami winning, but it could happen.

Bengals- Rams are playing better, but I want to go with the Bengals even though they had some bad luck with the replay last week in Pittsburgh.

J-ville- David Garrard was playing a whole lot like the player Donovan McNabb used to be last week. Garrard has always been able to move, but his passes were really sharp.

Dallas- So is this finally going to be the year that Matt Millen gets axed?

Tampa- Houston is decent, but Garcia should be back for the Bucs and their D is solid.

Green Bay- I think this might be a trap game for the Pack. They should beat Oakland running away, but who knows how Brett F. will play. Rodgers looked pretty good against Dallas even in a loss.

Titans - This is a tight one. I could see this being the game of the week. It all depends on if Haynesworth plays for the Titans, when he plays they stop the run, when he is gone their defense is pretty suspect.

Philly- The Giants have been a wreck in December for the past few years. This might change, but I will have to see it happen.

Vikings- I have not seen them play, but the TV talk seems to think Minnesota is getting it together. SF's offense is really bad.

Seahawks- Seattle seems to be improving and Arizona is up and down. The weather out west gets funky which could hurt Warner and their passing game.

Denver- This has to be the worse Bronco club in years, who knows how good they will be. They win when they shouldn't and get blown out by bozos. That being said, KC is no great shakes.

NE- I don't think the Steeler's running game or defense is as big has it has been in past years.

Cleveland- I sure hope the Browns win this one. Mangenius...give me a break.

Indy- I could see this being a knock down drag out as B-more hates the Colts and their D will be fired up. Manning played well last week, but again he did some wacked out play calling that let the Jags back into the game. Six minutes to go and third and eight and Manning is throwing another bomb. They get a first down and the game is about over. They don't hit the bomb, punt away give up a big return that gets called back on penalty and then Gerrard gets the Jags in the endzone in two or three minutes. Manning has done this a couple of times this year not thinking on the play call. There is a time to go to the bomb and there is a time to go for the first down. The deep passing game for the Colts has definitely not been as there as in past seasons, I think Peyton needs to know when to not go that way.

New Orleans- Atlanta is a mess, but I still don't feel that good picking the Saints.

dudes, listening to the bears talk about last week's game has made me believe they've given up. all week on the news they've been talking about how they knew they needed to win out and i've heard the phrase "out of the tournament" from at least two different players. they've packed it in for the year so unless the 'skins give them the game (which i wouldn't put past them) don't count on the bears doing much other than trying to avoid serious injury from here out.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 6 December 2007 03:41 (sixteen years ago) link

yeah i'm changin my shits to the Skins

cankles, Thursday, 6 December 2007 15:10 (sixteen years ago) link

though, keep in mind that due to sean taylor's funeral, the skins have only had two pracs since sunday's soul-sucking loss.

CHI @ WAS

(already happened)

CAR @ JAC

Jacksonville should win this one. The only way I see them losing is by giving it away and they really aren't that type of team. They win ugly but they win. Hard to believe what a consistent and moderately successful team they've grown into under Rio over the last several years. But it hasn't translated into playoff wins--yet.

MIA @ BUF

I make no bones about this pick being based 0% in fact or reasoning and 100% in emotion, and the fact that if this does not happen, I will immolate myself like one of those monks.

SD @ TEN

I'm real torn on this one. I think Tennessee takes it because A. they need it, B. it's at home, and C. San Diego is a fraud this year thanks to Norv Turner

TB @ HOU

I love Sage Rosenfels solely for the two games he helped Miami win in 2005, but he's going to have a tough day against the physical Buc defense.

OAK @ GB

The only way Green Bay loses this one is if they sign Don Majkowski back to play quarterback.

DAL @ DET

Boy didn't 6-2 seem like so long ago? Ouch, Kitna. You might not even finish 8-8 now.

NYG @ PHI

Philadelphia just doesn't have an identity. Eli is a very generous soul, giving footballs to opponents at least once to twice a game. But he wins today.

STL @ CIN

Get this. BROCK BERLIN might be starting today for the Rams. BROCK BERLIN. And his terrible throwing motion. This game is worth watching just for his ineptitude if he does play.

ARI @ SEA

Seattle's on a roll now and Matt Hasslebeck is quietly having another solid season.

MIN @ SF

Adrian Peterson 9 carries for 703 yards.

KC @ DEN

Zzzzzzzzzzzz.

PIT @ NE

Another 0% reasoning 100% emotional pick, but also think about it, the best teams in the league are favored to win every week, but only one has done it, so....this doesn't feel so wrong.

Besides, if there was one team I think could have the formula to beat the Patsies, it's this team, with their physical defense. And New England has played close games in 3 of its last 4--the blueprint is out there. Teams just need to FINISH.

CLE @ NYJ

This is not an emotional pick. Cleveland is the better team. Enjoy your inflated hopes from last week's win against my lousy Fins, Jet fans, because you won't be seeing many more of those this year.

IND @ BAL

Baltimore might pull off a surprise here, since they're still smarting from last week, but I think Peyton's got his mojo back after struggling a few weeks there.

NO @ ATL

This could be one of the greatest rivalries in the NFL if both teams could be good in the same season. Or hell, EITHER team the way this year has gone.

i just sat through this slog of a game between sd and tennessee. it finally gets interesting on the last drive, rivers throws a fade to gates to tie it with 10 seconds left and then i get this message: "due to contractual obligations, we will now switch you to the kansas city vs. denver game."

who knows anything about "nfl contractual obligations"? my local cbs affiliate being forced to switch out of sd-tn to bring me the start of ne/pit?

is this specifically cuz im in the pats home market (in hfd,ct) because i thought otherwise affiliates were supposed to get in conclusions of games even to the detriment of switching to a newly starting game? i dont care *that* much but just curious

yes, nfl contract states the home market won't miss any of their "home" game even if it's week 17 and two 16-0 teams are heading to overtime.

Detroit's choke against Dallas was about as bad as the Ravens against NE. That defensive player for the Lions falls on that fumble and it is game over, but noooo he had to be like every other dork in the football follies and try and pick it up and run.
