fwiw this isn't a celebrity using someone's twitter handle and saying they're lame, which is bullying and bad -- this is someone using @name, which only is viewed-by-default by the person replied-to and any shared friends they have, and you have to go directly to their twitter page to see it otherwise

if you're not friends with someone on twitter, it's the common way there to message someone, as direct message only works if the person is following you

I'm not arguing with it. It's annoying. I'd be annoyed and maybe a bit hurt if someone did that to me. But I don't know why anyone would expect mods to do anything because someone called someone else a mansplainer on a different forum entirely. If she'd posted his real address or libeled him or gone off on one at his offboard friends then maybe but otherwise just deal with it yourself.

like the number one source of mod outrage is any time where we step in PRIOR to the person in question addressing their wishes. also, there is no rule that has been established at all up until now wrt off board beefs, largely because it almost never happens.

I'm not sure whether it is or isn't in general a good idea or polite to follow someone to another site and continue an argument there, I think it varies by context - but if the context is that it's WCC, then it's pretty much always a terrible idea. Even if you've got a notification saying "Hey WCC mentioned you", leave it be. If anyone thinks this is an appalling double standard because you wouldn't feel the same way, fucking stop - you're all old enough to know better.
