Come anticipate the return of Alfa Romeo to the US with me (also Alfa Romeo C/D, S/D, etc.)

I was in Italy a couple months back and saw tons of 159s and Brera Spyders on the road.

I'm not sure I'd ever buy one (gawd knows what the US-spec ones are going to be like), but they're fantastic looking.

I'm hoping the FIAT 500 makes it over here in some fashion because of this. I used to want a Yaris, but...

I love the 159 Sedan. Proportions are great and the fascia is both mean and beautiful.

The thing about Alfas is this italian short-leg long-arm driving position that makes some of them cripplingly uncomfortable for my lanky-ass frame.

two weeks pass...
when the brera (which i think is much nicer than the spider) came out i almost went and begged my bank manager for a loan THERE AND THEN, at whatever crazy-ass rate he desired:

http://tuningnews.blogsome.com/images/KWAlfaRomeoBrera.jpg

but common sense prevailed. and then stet told me he'd seen one close-up, about six months later, with a headlight full of water and some other typical fucking alfa-style build-related fuck-up.

i still really, really, really fancy a late-era GTV:

http://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/Final%2520image/Alfa%2520Romeo%2520GTV.jpg

and i think that, at some point in the next couple of years, i'll get one as cheaply as possible and just have some fun with it, even just for a few months. they do seem to be lasting; there was a V-reg one for sale at my gym, which seemed to be in perfect nick.

either that or i wait a couple more years hours for the brera to lose all residual value, and get one of them. vroom.

italian short-leg long-arm driving position

see, that's EXACTLY MY SHAPE.

s: 159 (so beautiful), '80s GTV6, duetto roadster, the '60s GT coupes, the awesomely ugly SZ supercar, 155 V6 TI - maybe most advanced touring car ever from a technical viewpoint, looks magnificent in martini racing livery.

d: 33, narrow-body early version of the 155, alfa 6.

one year passes...

Changing jobs, new work doesn't provide company car anymore, need to buy one. Fallen in love with how Alfa looks (trying to convince myself that the rumors about technical snafu's are exaggerated), thinking about a 147 before they're phased out at the end of the year (to be replaced by the 149), but now I have a question:

Red?

Just got a call from the dealer, it's been delivered! (now they have to arrange
everything and next week I have to look for registration plate & insurance, and
the week after that it's mine! woohoo!)

Thx! Can't wait to go get it, might just drive there after closing hours so see if I can spot it on their yard! :-)

The Alfa Mito is pretty cute. I'd consider one over a Mini and the Volvo C30.

I don't know, I like the front lights on the 8C, but on the MiTo they look too much like, well,

Just saw it in Geneva -- it's nicer in the metal.

Pininfarina's rebodied 8C for the show is breathtakingly gorgeous, Bertone's is a 1970s Hot Wheels disaster.

Alfa has been hinting at a return to the U.S. for over a decade now. I'll believe it when I see them in a showroom. Although recent events make it more likely.

I would have strongly considered a MiTo had it been available when I bought my VW instead.
