Apart from Wolfgang Tillmans, who isn't.

This is going to sound like a suzy post but:

Whilst out clubbing on friday with 4 artists (one turner prize winner included) I came to the conclusion that it helps to be under 5'6" to succeed in the art world, not least because if you are tall at a noisy opening you can't hear half the conversation without bending down and looking patronising.

Damn! No wonder I've never sold a picture. Also, all kids TV presenters are kinda short, apart from Theakston.

Short people are always achieving stuff. It annoys me.

grrr, damn short folks withe their low centres of gravity and their enhanced ability to hide behind low walls. Mind you, I do like standing in front of them at gigs.

I like 'accidentally' treading on their heads.

N., Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

it's funny when that happens.

Well Toulouse Lautrec was very short. And an artist. So QED.

I accidentally like HITTING TALL PEOPLE IN THE NADS as I am at just about the right height heh heh. Especially if they are called anything that rhymes with Bastoor or... Wabbage.

They are short = they are artists ??????

"Urp! And EEEK! And ORK! I haf had e-NUFF wiff the faux Turner Prize winners!" said Gillian Wearing.

"CHIZ CHIZ," agreed Georgina Starr, lighting another Marlboro. "It were a right laugh down our snicket that day we tried to convince Ed that Nobson Newtown was a real place."

"Strewth!" sighed Paul Noble. "Did you know my name was Simon, and the things I draw come true?"

Surely my lack of achievements must cheer you up Nick.

This is all shortist by the way.

Surely my lack of achievements must cheer you up Nick.

This is all shortist by the way. Since when have artists worried about appearing patronising though?

eleven months pass...
I went to an opening tonight. By the time I got there the wine had run out. My path to the other side of the room led me past a photographer standing at photograph's distance away from a young woman and he was saying "You've got a great... face!" And she smiles, like "...?" and he's like "You've got a.... LIVING face!". After letting that moment linger for a deliciously precious half-second I barge through the middle of them and hear her say "well I should HOPE so"
