Also really liking the Horror Inc. track. I thought his last Revolver release was sweet, and this is more of the same eerie stuff.

Yes! It's a bigger Theo Parrish ripoff than any Lawrence track -- and that's saying a lot.

No. Superlongevity three is that good.
Yes and no (my faves are Sense Club, STL, Horror Inc, Villalobos, Dimbiman); no.

I am slow. I just now realized why Perlon calls their comps Superlongevity. Is this made apparent on any of the album covers, where they crop in on the name? (I don't have any covers at hand here.)
Also, has anyone had problems playing CDs that exceed 80 minutes? i don't have any that I am aware of. I've looked into burning one of SL3, but on a Mac, it looks like running Nero through Virtual PC might be my best option. Still, I've seen warnings that some burners may not be capable of it, and some players may not play them.

Haven't heard Superlongevity 3 but am I alone in almost always liking Nicolai's stuff more than anything else on Perlon. Briefly I was like, "no, I love Hombre Ojo even more", and then I found out that it was Nicolai under a different name.
Actually Perlon's a good example of a label where its two leading producers (Nicolai and Zip/Dimbiman) totally define its split-personality-style aesthetic range.

Usually when I fail to connect with Perlon grooves it's because all the melodic/textural components of the groove are kinda changeless from bar to bar - I prefer the grooves which have that jungle-like split-speed between rhythm and melody.
Like, the stuff I really like on Superlongevity is stuff like Luciano's "Indio Muerto" or Pantytec's "You Are So 99" or the Hombre Ojo or "The Unexpected Guest". cf. something like Pile's "Just One Of Those Days" which totally relies on its spoken word narrative to actually move forward at all.

to me the micro thing made the house thing interesting rather than reverse. I like the cold sound of techno that is somehow warmed by the occassional forays into emotion that micohouse does. Although at times some of the perlon stuff almost seems like dj tools (which i am not fond of) rather than proper techno
― hector (hector), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 05:22 (twenty years ago) link
Lately almost all of the "micro"-house I've clicked with has been of the rougher and tougher variety - see the second half of that Sami Koivikko mix or this excellent mix (the first one) which intersperses microhouse with marvellous steroid electro and techno.

Everything from International Anything is both bonkers and amazing - Echo Of The Year (B-side to Like This Girl) is the best!

When I finished my doctorate a few years ago, one off my gifts to myself was to fill in the gaps of my Perlon collection, including every release from their first ten years (though I’m still missing Morane the beach. That collection is among my most prized possessions - perlon has been such a guiding light for me since I started listened to house. Even if I’m not always excited by their more recent stuff, I’ve always felt something special about Perlon
My favourite release and 20 other favourites, ordered chronologically and spanning the label’s history.

1. artists i had no idea released on perlon: soulphiction, stl, shackleton2. a lot of these are slower than i thought they would be, which is good3. tbh jaded euro monologues are a no go for me, looking for soul vox and good times4. i forgot about the end of "lockdown party" lol -_-

Notwithstanding his being singled out for playing that dubious saudi arabian festival, the fact there are now audio samples and a release for the ~new melchior productions ltd~ album has me going bananas.
I honestly can’t remember the last time I actually anticipated an album release, but in the world of my niche tastes and formative experiences, release news doesn’t get bigger than this.
