i like CO's first album better than any of B&S but the Belles are a more interesting and versatile band overall.

This is what keeps me interested in B&S, even though they take off frigging long periods between CDs! Odd, as they were a slow-grower on me.

The keyboard player in Camera Obscura is much cuter than Chris Geddes.

The keyboard player in Camera Obscura is much cuter than everyone.

Camera Obscura tried to throw me out of my own soundcheck! I hate them!

Oh, wait, that was Stuart Murdoch, never mind.

I like the guy from Camera Obscura who looks like the MC from Scooter. I like to think that they are the same person, and that one day I will go to a Camera Obscura gig that will turn into a Scooter video.

Two members of Camera Obscura came to my wedding. None of B&S were even invited. Even though they are dirty cheats at football (Bowlie still rankles you know), this makes them winners in my eyes...

Oh, musically, you mean? B&S were impressing me more by this stage of their career. So them then.

Underachievers Please Try Harder is available on expensive-ass import. Download it or get someone to burn it for you.

I would have to side with Camera Obscura because they seem to be now at a high point like where B&S were about six years ago. Let's just hope they get better, not worse, with time.

maybe this is what is wrong. you like camera obscura a lot but are recommending that people not pay money to them for it? they're no metallica.

unless, OF COURSE, you are recommending for a sample before paying out on an import or asking a friend in another country to send you a copy, yeah.

two years pass...
the new camera obscura is really, really, really good. all shimmering and spacious, like a really good prom where they played songs off new gold dream instead of if you leave by OMD.

if i had to go to any kind of prom, hearing OMD might be the only thing that would make it bearable ;)

CO keep improving, but so do B&S, who are always a few steps ahead. "Dory Previn" is nice though.

Grimly, you wise and good man.

this has nothing to do with the thread, but New Gold Dream era Simple Minds>>>>>>>>>>anything by OMD

timmy tannin (pompous), Saturday, 17 June 2006 23:44 (seventeen years ago) link

yes, OMD at the prom is good but somewhat typical. songs from new gold dream at the prom would really make for a memorable night. or an apt description of the new camera obscura album! it makes you feel like somewhere, somebody is dancing.

in summertime.

the new camera obscura is fantastic. it's got a bit of the aislers set in it. also don't miss the guy singing, either guy.
